Do we need a podium for our outdoor ceremony?

Gina, on January 7, 2015 at 8:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

We are having an outdoor ceremony, and we intend to have our officiant mic'ed up with a lavalier mic so he can hold his book/notes. But is it unreasonable to expect our readers to hold their readings and do them from behind a stand mic? Should we rent a podium for them? The only one I can find at area rental companies is pretty hideous. Any suggestions for alternatives would be appreciated too!

If it is a lavalier mic or lapel mic or mic on a stand, he should not need a podium or lectern. It gets a little trickier if it is a hand-held mic. Then we're juggling book, rings, and mic.

No alternatives come to mind, but I think your readers will be fine with a stand mic.

I hate the podium look. A lavaliere, a stand mic or a hand held is just fine. A podium looks too Toastmaster...
