Do most venues provide the necessities for the reception?

Shelly, on September 24, 2016 at 2:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Do most venues include the things for the reception such as chair covers and sashes, backdrops, beautiful uplighting (this totally changes the atmosphere!), etc. or does the wedding planner rent and plan most of that stuff?

What items are you renting instead of purchasing?

It depends on the type of venue. Mine had none of that.

It depends. Mine had some of that at an additional cost, but some I had to rent from the dj, etc.

It depends on the venue. A lot of venues I've been researching have those items included, but with limitations; color limitations, additional funds needed for chair upgrades, etc. The place I work at provides a packet with all that information, including pricing, menu options, and so on. It doesn't hurt to ask for that when you tour the venue, OP! Smiley smile

Our venue had it all included in price if you chose to use it, or you could rent your own. Except the uplighting, that was DJ territory.

@mzkiwi, was there an additional fee? Any items worth renting vs. purchasing?

It really depends. The first venue I booked literally just provided the space, and EVERYTHING would've had to be rented. I found a new place that provides everything and will end up being much more affordable. Many places I looked at will at least provide the tables and chairs but it doesn't but out that much expense from the mountain of other shit you'll need to rent.

My venue has it all included but that's why it's pricier than others, which I find it to be cheaper and less stressful than just finding a venue and using other vendors to provide the necessities of what you would like to have on your big day.

Ours includes only the venue. We have to rent tables, chairs, silverware, glasses, plates, etc from an outside party rentals company.

Mine has tables, chairs, and linens but it all depends on the venue.

ETA: also includes plate ware, glassware, and silverware.

My location just provides tables, chairs and linens. You can upgrade linens and add chair covers for an additional fee. Any linen would need to be done through the venue. They wanted $10 a piece for chair covers and at 180 guests we decided against it. They gave me a list of preferred vendors for decor and we chose one. We decided on a package that includes uplighting, chandelier with ceiling draping, some draping behind the sweetheart table, air wall coverings and 6 trees of our choosing. I agree decor can make a huge difference.
