Do invites have to match your wedding colors?

Johanna, on May 30, 2017 at 9:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I love these invites I found on Etsy. Our colors are orange, navy blue, champagne with burgundy accents (for october wedding). The seller on Etsy has navy/orange invites but this one is my favorite. Is it close enough?

Our wedding colors are charcoal gray and blush pink, and our invitations have a black border. I don't think colors matching are a requirement... just make sure the formality is consistent. Your guests will base the formality of their attire and such from your invitations. Keep that in mind. These are nice!

There is no requirement to do anything! Go with the invites that you like.

Honestly, they don't have to match. If you really care, your envelopes can be a colour matching to your wedding colours.

Unless ETSY can get you to change the font colour? But Orange is def in there already.

Get the invites you really want.

The only one who would probably notice that detail is you. Those are really pretty and are close enough in my book!

I don't think they have to. I think they are just supposed to match the level of formality of the event (ie: black and silver embossed for a daytime wedding with haybales as seating probably doesn't make sense).

I did get asked by a two girl friends what color the bridesmaids were in though, because they didn't want to end up matching them on accident, and they specifically mentioned the invite color. So maybe that's a tip to people that don't know you well enough to ask?

Mine coordinated, not matchy matchy though. I had lace like imprinted invites with navy blue lettering and tied with a navy ribbon. I had lace on my votives, lace table runners etc. Color was navy.

Absolutely not. I like when an invite reflects the couple's personalities and the style of the wedding since it sets the tone. I hate to tell you this but no one will likely remember what your invite looks like by the time your wedding rolls around. Get the invite you love. The one you picked is lovely.

For me, everything has to match my colors because I'm a psycho perfectionist and a designer for a living, so it's sort of my thing.

I consider my wedding a brand and like all brands/businesses, the colors/style/patterns/etc should remain consistent throughout all materials!

Ours don't match our colors at all! We picked ours based on which we liked better

Right??? And this is actually a bit off topic- I wanted to add though, my friend just had her wedding not long ago and we got save the dates and invitations...both of which we lost within days. I don't remember what they looked like. We ended up RSVP'ing via a message. Terrible, I know. For my wedding coming up, I'm saving the money on the invitations and save the dates by sending an electronic one. I know is not very formal, but it is a day time wedding at a campground and the attendees will be our family members and closest friends. I hope all is forgiven.
