Do i postpone my wedding??

Tori, on March 13, 2020 at 8:35 AM Posted in Planning 1 12
Okay, I’m getting married in North Carolina on April 11th. Have family coming from Texas and Florida. Our governor just came out and said gatherings of over 100 should be canceled until further notice. We have 130 people coming. What do I do? 😞

Looking for answers! Mine is on the 27th with 133 people. 50% traveling out of state. I’m freaking out, crying and don’t know what to do!😭😭😭

That’s such a personal decision, it’s hard to say. But no that either way, everything will be okay.

I am choosing not to cancel mine, but have accepted it may not be exactly what I have planned. Things are changing so fast it is hard to tell what will happen in a few days let along a few weeks or months. My wedding may be smaller than I planned or the venue could cancel and it just be my FH and me. I am marrying him either way!

Personally, I would still move forward with the wedding. April 11th is 4 weeks away and things may be totally different by then. I would just inform all your guests on what's going on and just remind them to practice good hygiene and to not come if they're feeling sick. Also, I would make sure to reach out to your vendors to see, if you do decide to delay, if they could accommodate a new date.

My wedding is in two weeks, and we have decided we are not cancelling as most of our family is local. We did let the few guests that were flying know that we understood if they decided not to come. I have definitely shed my fair share of tears over this situation, as my fiance and I have spent the last year and a half planning our perfect day, However, I've been reminding myself that what matters most is that we are getting married and nothing is getting in the way of that... even if it isn't the exactly the way we planned. Once you make your decision, you have to just be confident with that choice and remind yourself of the important things.

I am not cancelling mine unless we are in a statewide shutdown. I am getting married 04/09. It will be sad if some people can't make it but I know our parents and siblings will be there and that's enough for me.

We cancelled our wedding as well. We are worried that the coronavirus situation might get worse in California. Most importantly - my parents can't come Smiley sad Their country is on lockdown Smiley sad

After I cancelled I feel relieved actually and the vendors have been very very understanding. Our new date is May 1, 2021.

We have the same rule in Ohio, but weddings and funerals are the exception. Do you know if there are any exceptions for your state?

Would you be able to reconfirm with guests? Because I’m sure there’s people who are uncomfortable with risk who would change their mind

I think you should ride out your decision to postpone a little longer. I suspect in the next week or two we will have more / better information on how to proceed with events.

I'm getting married in NC on April 11th too. I'm not canceling. I'm planning on proceeding. over half of our guests are local. A lot of family is out of state. So if they end up not being able to come, then I will have to be okay with it. Still waiting for rsvps to come in, right now we are under 100. If everyone else rsvps we will have 149
