Do i need a videographer?

Sarah, on January 24, 2022 at 9:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
So our wedding will be about 20 thousand dollars and my SO will be paying for ALL of it himself ( I’m a SAHM and have 3 children) ... we booked a photographer for only 4 hours ( our ceremony and reception is a total of 6) and we were thinking of skipping a videographer... thoughts? Are budget is getting pretty tight now 😳

We didn't have a videographer and gave no regrets. We've been happily married for 2.5 years thus far and have thought about it exactly 0 times.

Thank you for your reply! It makes me feel a lot better about not getting one lol! Did you have your photographer for the entire wedding ?

I did. Our photographer didn't charge by the hour, so we had him and his 2nd shooter for the whole day. I did love the candid reception photos they got of people dancing though, and we were able to get posed photos with most of our guests, if not all, during the reception as well.

In the beginning, we weren’t going to do a videographer. I started having “pre-regrets” (you know what I mean) when I realized how many times I’ve watched our proposal video (luckily, it was captured on security footage!). I was so happy to have that video because I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I could barely remember what was said. So we ended up booking a videographer for the ceremony only (3 hrs @ $750 w/raw footage & highlight video). Now, several months later & after watching NUMEROUS wedding videos for inspiration, we’ve decided to double our coverage so that we can get the speeches & exit. I know a lot of ppl say they don’t ever watch it, but given how many times I’ve watched our proposal video, I’m guessing I’ll watch it many times. And it’s worth to me if I just watch it once so that I can remember what I will have already forgotten because I was so overwhelmed! It may be worth it to you to see if you can at least get ceremony coverage.

We love our wedding video, but it would have been the first thing we cut if budget didn’t allow for it.

We just got our video back. It was so much fun. not only to relive the best day ever but we got to see so many things we missed that day. I honestly don't know how often we'll watch but I love having it.

I’m getting one. I didn’t plan on it as is it’s costing us $3500 and we already booked a main photographer and second photographer for $7100 😅 but I’m excited to have both and don’t regret it
(also get wedding stuff adding up. Ours has approached $28k with no money lol. Whoops 😬)
