Do I have to put "Formal Invitation to Follow" on STD?

Dr. & Mrs. R, on September 5, 2014 at 11:39 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

If I'm supposed to, oh well! We just got our save the dates and we put the wedding website rather than "Formal Invitation to Follow". I didn't even think about putting that. Oops!! Our website and invitation match the Save the Date. It's perfect for our garden wedding with no set colors!

That's super pretty!! I don't think you need the 'formal invitation to follow', however I put it on mine but I am not putting info about our website on it.

I like it! The only thing that will happen if you don't write that is people will think it's the actual wedding invite.

It's so cute! I didn't. I only put 1) our picture 2) wedding date 3) our website. I'm not even sure if it had Save the Date on it... I figured the mystery would hopeful entice them to go to the website.

We didn't write it on ours either. The only person who was unsure about whether or not it was a formal invitation was FH's grandmother. Everyone else (I'm assuming) knew what they were.

I didn't and I only had one person call it an invitation, one of our GM who is not that....bright. Mine didn't have room for it. Since you put your wedding website on there, I think you're covered!

You don't have to do anything, but I would absolutely include that line. There are a lot of people who have no idea what an STD is and will think it is the actual invitation. That line helps to clarify that they will be getting an invitation later. It's there for a reason.

CUTE STD's! I think that most people are starting to understand that a formal invite follows Save the Dates. If nothing else, you may just get some people calling you and asking you how to RSVP and stuff.

I absolutely love your STD's! We are also having a garden wedding with no real set colors.....do you mind if I ask where you found them? I would also only add the wedding website and not have the official invite to follow.

So pretty, I love the colors! I wish I would have put our website on it, but it's not finished.

@Sherry, theamericanwedding.com. My mom did not care for them at first but I love them! There were the first ones I looked at and have LOVED them every since. They're called Maysie. I changed them completely from what the example given is. The STDs aren't as big as we had expected but I love them!!! We manipulated the designed and made our return address labels with the flowers on the side.

Also, @Sherry, these are the totes I got the girls because they're so inexpensive and they're summery. All the summer stuff is starting to go on sale too! I have a date twin that I used to work with her mom and I've been sending her all this stuff too!!

I think it looks great the way it is Dr. & Mrs. R! We put invitations to follow instead of our website, but I wish we would have put the website instead! We just haven't worked on our website yet, other than have it anyways..lol

I did not, but I kind of wish I had - we had some people trying to RSVP to the save the date!
