Do bridesmaid dresses HAVE to match wedding colors?

Honeybee, on August 16, 2016 at 11:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

Do my bridesmaids dresses absolutely HAVE to match my wedding colors? I plan on having gold and white wedding colors for the decor, but I absolutely adore cobalt/royal blue dresses for my bridesmaids. I've been searching for gold bridesmaid dresses, but I'm having a hard time finding any I like. I was told that chiffon doesn't come in gold, since it's a metallic color and the fabric can't be dyed gold.

Will it look really bad or weird if my bridesmaid dresses are blue and my wedding decor is all white & gold?

As long as you like it and think it looks good, that's all that matters! I think that sounds gorgeous, and makes your BMs stand out a little from the decor.

Nope, not at all! I think cobalt/royal blue dresses would look beautiful with your gold and white decor!

My girls are wearing chiffon gold dresses from Azazie if you were interested in looking, but I think cobalt would be lovely too!

My colors started out being navy blue, blush pink, and silver it somehow got switched to blush pink and ivory. The girls bought the navy blue dresses already and I think it will look great it adds a pop of color to your wedding.

I personally love the mismatch look, because it seems a little more natural, to me.

It will look lovely, but you do realize that most people who know about the BM dress color will say that one of your colors is royal blue, don't you?

For my first wedding my colors were royal blue and purple. My bridesmaids wore black dresses. It worked well.. I think the blue will work beautifully.

Mrs. Sasswood, I did change my avatar twice, but for some reason it doesn't show up. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

If you said your wedding colors were green, blue, and silver, and you wanted to add orange and gold, that would something I'd feel I needed to talk you out of.

As it stands, you have two colors -- both very neutral -- white and gold. You could add almost any third color to that pairing. As for cobalt blue -- absolutely. Look it up -- white, cobalt, and gold weddings.

    It looks good to me:
