diy Flowers -- Placing Them?

Nicole, on September 4, 2019 at 12:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hi Everyone,

We're doing diy flowers (silk flowers in vases and not from a florist) for our wedding and need your advice on what do with who could possibly place them for us. Our day-of coordinator let us know that they don't do anything floral related (which was a big bummer news Smiley sad() and if they do, they'd have to bring an extra person (which obv means extra charge), which we're not going to do. I'm getting flowers for cocktail hour and reception and was wondering if anyone was in a similar scenario where they asked someone to help them set the flowers out on the tables. We're a pretty small wedding (80~90 ppl) so it's not too many tables for both cocktail hr/reception but I obviously don't want to take whoever will help us' time away from the wedding to help set-up. If anyone has any advice on flow/timeline or anything that you'd think will help with this situation, would love the advice!

We do not have a day of coordinator, but also having a small wedding. Our venue has centerpieces, but anything we bring in, they will not place. I am having my FSIL place them. It will take approx 10 mins at most and her attention to detail is parallel to mine, so I trust her. I would recommend identifying someone you trust, communicating what you need and having them do it.

Yes, it sounds like a fairly simple task, so anyone you trust can handle it. I would make it super easy for them by having all of the arrangements done ahead of time, so they literally only need to be set down on each table. That shouldn't take long at all. A family member, or close friend, or even the SO of a bridal party member. My sister is my MOH, but her husband is not in the wedding party (FH and him just met), so he'll be around since my sister and I are getting ready together, but he won't have anything to do. So, I've asked him for this exact kind of help. He was happy to do it!

Thanks, Kiley! I'll have to look for someone I can trust to help us out.
