diy Decorations

Tara, on September 3, 2019 at 12:43 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 21
Hi everyone! Looking for opinions on when I should start my DIY decorations! My wedding is a little over a year away. With the holidays coming up, if I don’t start now I’m afraid I’ll be behind by next year. I’m pretty much making all decorations myself, including flowers and signs. Any suggestions on a timeframe?

I would say the sooner the better. If you're hoping to build decor using seasonal items, it would be best to get it now on end of season clearance and work on it throughout the year.

That’s a great idea! Our color is red so after the holidays might be good for some of it also. Thank you

That looks similar to my centerpieces! This photo is what we will be doing with them and adding flowers above the bulbs and some fairy lights on the base of the hoop. Here’s what mine look like. We will be putting them together in November and my wedding is in March. And we are putting our invasions together in December to send them out in January. Here’s a photo of our envelopes.

Make a plan and calendar a project to complete every week.

These look amazing!!! If you don’t mind me asking, are those real flowers or fake. I’m trying to do the same but I need to do fake flower centerpieces to cut costs!

You should definitely do as much as you can now! So you have the time to enjoy the holidays with your family and friends. Maybe dedicate 2 days a week, so you’re not feeling burnt out Smiley smile

Seems like your start time would be personal and based on how much availability you have and how quick you are with crafts. When it comes to DIY, I see a lot of brides shift gears in the middle of the road, which seems to prolong and drag out the process. My suggestion before starting would be to decide exactly what DIY projects you want. List out what they are and all items needed. That way you’re more efficient.

Start as soon as you can! Write down every step you need to take to complete each project because those little things add up. I'm DIY'ing our wedding, and with less than 40 days to go, I wish I had started the day we got engaged. Lol
