DIY centerpieces and string balls:) Pics!

Skyla, on March 20, 2011 at 12:48 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 27

We are making the string balls to hang in the trees with possible fake tea lights inside and the cork balls are going to be our centerpieces. We are also making those!

We thought the cork balls were such a cute idea since we are having the ceremony and reception at a wine vineyard here in good ol' west TexasSmiley smile

    Cork balls

    Instructions

    things you'll need:

    Corks

    2-inch foam ball

    Hot glue gun

    Hot glue stick

    1/4-inch wide ribbon

    Scissors

    Thumbtack

    1. Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, and plug it in.

    2. Allow the hot glue gun to heat up for five minutes.

    3. Squeeze hot glue over the surface of a two-inch foam ball.

    4. Place the corks over the hot-glued ball, setting each cork upright so that only the tip is attached to the ball. Fill the entire ball with corks.

    5. Cut a 1/4-inch wide ribbon to a length of 8 inches.

    6. Attach the ribbon onto the cork ball using a flat thumbtack. You can now hang up the cork ball for display.

String balls were postponed to be made on Wednesday due to this windy Texas weatherSmiley smile I want to do them out in our garage so they can dry and we won't have a mess inside!

We are getting married at Chapel in the Vineyard... it is in Christoval, which is about 15-20 minutes outside of San Angelo.

I had not really thought of any cute DIY ideas until I came across these and the websites they were on. They are going to be soooo much cheaper than renting the lanterns from the venue- $100! Which I think is a little much considering they are in the back of the chapel and only need to be moved like 20 feet...lol

Valerie C- Are you sure the hot glue won't melt the foam ball? I was worried about that...
