But I wanted to check with u ladies to see if u had any better ideas. I don't want to make anything (which makes this not exactly DIY), I'd prefer to just pick it up from somewhere without the hassle of making it myself. What are your suggestions??? Thanks, lovelies!!! <3

    I second Whole Foods!

Or, even better, a locally owned supermarket. In NE Ohio, we have a local upscale chain and a local 3-store organic supermarket chain.

They both have kickass catering and apps, and WAY fresher than Costco.

@Lisa S. I feel like that's a bit extreme, she has a catered dinner for her guests but is just looking for appetizer ideas, to call off an entire wedding because of that is absolutely absurd.

Wow, @LisaS, there is absolutely no need for that! Do not presume that u know anything about me or my wedding. If u can't say anything nice, keep it to yourself. Didn't your mother teach u manners???

How dare u say that I shouldn't have a wedding, I've been waiting for this day my whole life! RUDE!

We may put out chips and pretzels. We are doing a burger bar and our reception, will start around 7. So we aren't doing anything planned since we will be heading into dinner shortly after we are announced. Think about your timeline, you may not need appetizers

@Colleen - We are starting dinner around 7, as well, I just don't want people to get hungry. I know how I am when I get hungry & I hate it! Lol. I think we'll do a few things just to make sure everyone is held over until dinner.

We are planning on getting veggies, some dips, cheese and crackers from Costco for apps. I went to a wedding a few months ago and they had the same thing except for fruit instead of veggies and it was plenty for cocktail hour.

Honestly we're doing wood fired pizza and salad for our dinner (also casual) and the caterer has various meat/cheese/veggie plates kind of like what you're talking about doing yourself. It would be no different than ordering a charcuterie plate as an app at your local Italian place, just more of them to satisfy the number of guests. I think you're fine. They're sitting down for dinner 30-40 mins later anyway and depending upon what time you're starting my guess is your dinner isn't any later than about 6-6:30, maybe 7, which is normal dinner time for a lot of people anyway. Good on you for thinking of and providing something for your guests.

And to back up the Whole Foods comments, they will typically do these types of plates and goodness knows their meats and cheeses are usually much better than a standard Costco Smiley winking

Putting those trays out would just look cheap.

Maybe ask Lenny's or some sandwich shop in your area to cater some light sandwiches?? Or get some chips and dip from a Mexican restaurant??

Please for the love of GOD do not to salami and cheese trays. I learned the hard way not to leave them sitting out (food poisoning). Still can't even tolerate the smell of salami to this day. Blegh.

I agree with Whole Foods (or Wegmans if you have one in your area). I was at a shower where they brought in mini sandwich, sushi, and cheese/ cracker trays from Whole Foods and it was filling enough for a light lunch. So that could definitely work for appetizers.

@OP, you can't call Lisa a snob. flagged.

I would never hire a professional caterer who doesn't do apps. And those meat/cheese trays do look cheap TBH.

I'd find another caterer or add someone who can do apps.

Telling someone not to post *and* name-calling?

Costco will make you deli platters!! You can do pinwheel wraps, veggies and dip, fruit tray, cheese and crackers and meats, etc. They may even have dips. Just ask! They will be pre-assembled and all you'll need to do is have someone pick them up and put them out at the venue. I order trays like this whenever I host a shower (which I have several times).

ETA: Info for these are hard to find online. Go into your local costco, go to the deli area, they should have a brochure or you can ask an employee/the deli manager!

Lisa, I think, doesn't really doesn't know what she's talking about. This is a backyard-ish wedding with BBQ. I just went to one similar and the caterer put out smoked sausage and cheese for apps and they also had a big bowl of watermelon. It was actually great and very well suited to their style. And the sausage was delicious.

Just follow other PPs advice. There are definitely options.

Oh, and Lisa, she's not saying she can't provide food. She's saying her caterer doesn't do apps so she's providing the food for that herself. And I'm sure it will show she's been waiting for this. Really, where do you live that those comments are okay when you know literally nothing about this person?

    Damn. Chill. They're apps.
