distances - Church, Venue, hotel

Melissa, on June 7, 2019 at 1:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

This is a follow up question to a post from earlier today for a wedding that has the church, venue and hotel in all different locations.

Here's the traveling time between:

Church to Venue = 30 min

Venue to Hotel = 10 min

Should we do pictures before the Church ceremony & then have the reception right after Church or should there be a break between Church and reception/cocktail hour?

Thank you,

Melissa

Hmmm that depends what's in your budget. Do you have the budget for a cocktail hour?
I am personally doing pics before ceremony just because I want it out of the way so that's also a factor you can think about when deciding if it's better for you logistically.

Cocktail hour is the photo time. You can take photos before the ceremony if you want to save time or join cocktail hour, but don't extend the gap between ceremony and cocktail hour. That's inconvenient for your guests.

Yes, our reception venue has it included, but where we want to take pictures is on the way from the church to the venue so I wasn't sure how other people dealt with that.

That's a good point I think getting it out of the way would be nice so that we could just enjoy the rest of the day. Also getting them done right after hair/makeup.

    Thanks!

Thanks Caytlyn, that's a good point it does seem inconvenient. I've been at weddings before where there was a gap and I wasn't sure logistically what's the best way to go about it.
