Distance Between Venue and Hotel

Amanda, on January 9, 2017 at 7:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 14

Just started planning and we are looking at a couple different hotels in the area. What is an appropriate distance between venue and hotel to consider for out of town guests?

I don't know for certain, but I would think not much more than 15-20 minutes, and not anything particularly difficult to get to.

I really think this depends on how developed an area is. Rural areas are going to have a much longer drive than urban areas. Use your best judgment.

My venue is about 5 mins from hotel. I would say around 30mins depending on area.

Our venue is walking distance from the hotels we blocked off. Also, a 20-25 minute drive from most of the guests. We are in the heart of Downtown L.A., CA.

I did a block at the resort we are getting married. One about 10 minutes away and one about 30 minutes away because it was the cheapest I could find. I think some of the guests are going to be willing to drive to save money.

The hotel I am staying at and blocking off rooms is 10 minutes away from my venue. Also going to give everyone the option of other hotels that are around 15-20 minutes away if they prefer instead

Take into consideration OOT guests. You want it to be close AND simple to get to. We kept our venue within 2 miles of each other. The hotels where our guests stayed was just over a mile from the reception venue.

Ours is 30 minutes, but we're getting married in the middle of nowhere so it's actually the closest hotel to our church! The reception is about 10 minutes from the hotel

The closer, the better. If you're going to have the hotel farther than 20 minutes away, I would try to provide transportation.

We have 3 different blocks (90% of guests are OOT) furthest is 22 minutes away but we're providing shuttles to and from all of them

The ceremony and reception are about 30 mins away from each other..... so I did 3 hotel blocks.... two are about 4 miles from the church and one is 8 miles from the reception.....

The area I live in plus summer wedding equals unbelievable high priced hotel rooms..... it has been hard finding reasonable hotel block prices!

My hotel is 20 mins from venue. It's literally the only hotel around so we didn't have many options. I'm looking into providing a shuttle for guests from hotel to venue also.
