Disposable vs. real china

So we've booked our caterer for a buffet dinner and for no additional charge they provide clear plastic dinnerware. If we want to upgrade to real china it would be an additional $4/person. Plus an additional $200 for server. Do you think the upgrade is worth it?

I literally searched this earlier today! I found a vendor that wants to charge $10 a person for dishes and flatware. Ouch.

The other WW forum I found had a lot of votes for plastic—like, nice plastic (or as nice as you can get, I mean—it's still plastic.) I'm still debating too.

As a guest, I would be just fine using the better kind of disposable dish/silverware. This is one of those things that I don't care much about & won't remember what we eat off of/with. IDK your guest list; but say you have 100 guests...that's $600 that I know I could totally save or use elsewhere : )

Now if it's the super cheap plastic that breaks...no thanks.
