WW RIOT FOLLOW UP

Thanks to Jo and everyone else who spent the time to represent us! You all rock!

The changes they are proposing I think can be good for us. If we don't see something next week. I'm going to follow up with an email. They did ask us to keep some things to private which I personally will choose to respect as a sign of good faith.

I think the changes will benefit the community and allow us to continue working on change within the forums and community (I can see now that they are two separate things)!

You totally rock, thanks for standing up and making a difference!

Wow Jo...You and the other three have become my new heros! You are an inspiration to the Spirit of THIS community and have reenergized my exuberance for these forums. You are correct, we don't always see eye to eye (as you and I have experienced together) and yet I still feel the love. THIS is how it SHOULD be!!!

Special thanks for addressing the bullying issue on our behalf. I love this:

we need to move away from the concept that members are bulling others- it’s not accurate and it’s borderline offensive to members who have been victimized by true bulling in their lives.

I know this is too much to ask - since they won't even apologize to people like Celia or SpazzyTazi, but they should probably email an apology to all those who were unjustly accused of bullying behaviour.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to meet and discuss all of this and thank you to Jo for taking time out of your busy day to post an update. So glad to know we've been heard.

JoRocka bullying on the internet is a thing, but yes I agree what is happening on these boards is not bullying.

Kathryn we talked about the perpetual "we are working on it" commentary as well and they asked is specifically what we works prefer to hear. And I said frankly yes... Working in it is better than silence.

But if you give a mod some teeth who can manage the forum a little bit instead of making her run back to her boss for answers, it will eliminate part of the problem.

We may not like what comes. But at least we are coming to the table to discuss it and make changes and hopeful set up a path forward that includes more direct and efficient communication. And I urged them to facilitate a mechanism to allow a more direct engaged communication situation because as it is now it feels very 'us' vs 'the'and that's not what we want.

Bride2B.... I personal think 'bullying on the Internet' isn't a thing. Unless you're talking Anonymous level hacking, stalking, work meddling... No. It's not bullying. People can be super dicks. I agree. And people can and do attack and say horrific things to others personally, which is still wrong, but that to me is not bullying. Only because bullying implies the person is powerless to do anything and is stuck to deal with it. A person on the Internet is free to walk away. At any time. It's totally optional to be here.

Now. I realize that is not the opinion of all. And that didn't come up on the call. Because that's my personal belief and I didn't feel right arguing a point like that and it didn't seem relevant.

We did make it clear that often people get defensive about their idea being shot down and instead of defending their idea against us, they go full ad hominem and attack the person and their character rather than the argument.

And that's where 'bullying' gets muddied bc new people throw that out frequently. So clearing up what we the forum find an acceptable amount of 'aggression' towards other users without being a bully is a thing.

But clearing up terminology and what was acceptable and how the mods works handle it definitely did come up.

Thanks for updating us! I feel like I have a little more closure on the situation now.
