Would you drive to Fidelity

Mrs Drakthal, on July 29, 2013 at 9:57 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 12

There is a small town near here (about a 45 minute drive) with a post office called Fidelity. We have our invitations ready to mail. I want to drive there and mail our invitations. Am I being silly?

Honestly? With how gas prices are right now, unless you have a Prius, I wouldn't drive 45 minutes for a postmark. Most likely you will be the only one that notices. Not worth the gas or time for something that most won't notice, much less appreciate, really.

That said, if you REALLY want to, by all means.

Welcome to WW! I hope you'll update that avatar (the rings) to ANY unique picture from Google we can remember you by. This post tells you how and more: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/welcome-to-the-weddingwire-forums-please-read-if-you-are-new/b433c40c1a62b96a.html

Lol it took me a min to figure out why you want to do this but i would never notice that on my invite. If there are other things to do there and you can make a day of it why not

If its really important to you, then go for it.

But I would never notice the postmark or think it was done on purpose.. so that's probably the viewpoint from your guests.

45 min is a long drive and is just extra gas money you could use on something else.

Yeah no I wouldn't it takes 75 dollars to fill up my car and I drive a car. I get what you are saying BUT I like the USPS is the same anywhere in the US! Smiley smile

I wouldn't go out of my way for it. I honestly don't think anyone would really notice the postmark.

However, maybe we could plan a trip to Lancaster and I mail my invites from Intercourse, PA. I never even thought of that....

I live near Loveville, MD, so everyone around here sends their wedding invitations from that post office. It's a big enough deal that they have a special (large and pretty) postmark and an expedited hand-cancel line. But a town called Fidelity? Ehhh....

It seems FH more or less agrees with you all, the only reason I can think of to do it at this point (well convince him to do it) we could stop at our favorite little local restaurant that is at the about half way point.

I think you can put all your invitations into a large envelope or box & mail it to the Fidelity PO with a note asking them to put their postmark on your invitations. That would probably be less expensive than driving there. Call Fidelity and ask their rules about it.

No one will notice other than you or other gals that are engaged. Don't do it.
