What do Y'all think of this as a Recpetion Dress???

FutureMrs2011, on April 8, 2011 at 3:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I like this and it is affordable...don't think I will wear the flower belt but is this too plain? Should I go for something sexier??? Thanks!

@ See-Rizzy - Yes it is cute but I am wondering if it is too plain. My wedding dress is mermaid and fitted to my body, so I don't want the reception dress to top that, I just wanted something simple, yet elegant (which is the theme of my wedding) that I could dance in...bc I am most definitly a dancer and so is FH!

@ Anita, that is gorgeous!!! But it looks like it is out of my price range! LOL I do love it though! The fit is the same as my wedding dress. I think that is why I wanted something different for the reception.

I think that dress is super cute, but if it were me, I would want to dress it up a little more. There are tons of different styles if you are looking to get something completely different from you main dress. Maybe get a different style (one like that) but with more details.

I think it depends on the type of wedding...and your style preference.

I personally like the dress as is...If your gonna take the flower off it will def be wayyy too plain....

Yes, I agree. I wish it had some beading or bling or something to it! I just think my wedding dress is already "sexy' and I wanted something more comfortable but cute that I could dance in. Our wedding isn't black tie, but it is not casual either, its somewhere in the middle, lol, so I think this would be ok. If I did take the belt off, I would try to find another one that would accent it well, maybe a diamond belt or something a little flashier.

Wait wait wait!!! I feel like I am living behind the moon!

You girls have a reception dress? Meaning you are not wearing your wedding dress at the reception????

I am totally confused! Never heard of that!

Don't worry Ramona. A lot of Brides keep their dress on during the reception. Some just want to get more comfortable. I am keeping mine on because when else will I get to wear it lol. I DID buy a dress to switch out of when I am leaving the reception to go on the honeymoon though Smiley smile

@Ramona, no worries! You don't need a reception dress. I'm hoping to get a dress to leave the reception in, but that's it! Smiley smile

@Future Mrs. I would probably won't something that reflected my wedding dress - does it have any beading or bling on it? That's how I would have picked a reception dress, anyway. Smiley smile

To clarify, it is not required to have a reception dress, but for me I will need one because my wedding dress is form fitted (mermaid style) but I really want to dance! Here is another dress that I bought...I think this one is better because it has more detail. My wedding dress is Ivory so I cannot wear a white reception dress because it will clash with FH ivory tux. What do yall think of this one?

The second one is better, I really love the first one on Kayla B's post. Whatever you choose, remember you want to stand out on your day - after all, YOU are the bride! Don't pick a dress that makes you look like just one of the wedding guests - this is your day to shine!!

@Betsy H.- I found the first dress at Target. I ordered it online because it is not sold in stores. I also have the second dress, which came from Belk's. That one is a little more what I was looking for....BUT I need to have alterations done to it so that may be the deal killer for me. Everyone keeps telling me to just wear my wedding dress...I don't know what I am going to do yet. At least I have options!

I haven't looked at Target! I'll have to check out their website! And same here, everyone is telling me to wear mine too. I would wear it all night, but there is no A/C where my reception is and since it's going to be July, I want the option to change too! So I can understand where you are coming from...

Thanks all! Glad to hear not everybody is doing that! LOL

My FH would kill me if I spend that much on a wedding dress and then only wear it for the 20 minutes the ceremony takes!

As I am not heading out to HM from the wedding right away I think I am good there. But I guess I want a dress for the rehearsal picnic we are planning and for the brunch the next morning! I think I am going to wear white for at least an entire week! Smiley smile

I say to each it own...I've seen some people change and I've seen others keep their dress on. It really depends on the person and what type of wedding they are having.
