What did you "splurge" on?

FH wanted it to be my dress because he's cute that way, and wanted me to wear something gorgeous even if it was expensive, but I found a super good deal (and still feel gorgeous in it!). How about you?

Photography was a splurge for sure but I consider it a necessary one.

The two biggest other splurges that we probably didn't need were our custom letterpress suite. I couldn't find anything I liked on minted or any of the other sites. We also splurged on decor, especially getting our dance floor completely covered in addition to a dance floor monogram. Definitely not necessary, but at the time I couldn't get over how beautiful it looked.

For me the whole event is going to be a big splurge. I am picking up 16 hrs of overtime a pay to host the way I want. Upgraded cocktail hour, filet carving station, and individual pies and cake balls will be the biggest parts the guests will get to enjoy.

FH and I each picked one element that meant a lot to us individually. My splurge was the photographer, as it is an element of the wedding I was not willing to skimp on or sacrifice. FH felt very strongly about having amazing food, so catering will be another splurge.

But it's all about what's most important to you and what's within reason (your budget)!

Food. Fillet Mignon and Shrimp de johne for the main course. The reception was liked 52% of our overall budget.

2nd was the Videographer. We spent 1k more than we had budgetted. However we saved here and there and it all balanced out in the end.

Venue/animal experiences. What's the point of getting married at the zoo without some animal encounters! Everything else pretty standard budgeted items. Also splurged on favors and WP gifts but they're actually not that much cost because bought them overseas not at u.s. prices.

My sister (MOH) splurged for me (as a gift) and got me a DJ for the wedding. We weren't sure we had a budget for one and then she surprised me with it. Personally, I splurged on my hair "piece" because I'm not wearing a veil. I got a 6 piece comb/clip in fake flower hair decor thing. It's really cute, and handmade. And a photobooth. That was my grandma's addition to the wedding. She's paying for that vendor. We weren't going to have one but he was a really good deal at the bridal show we went to.

We upgraded our menu and bar.

Then Joe went a bit crazy at the jewelers. Emerald necklace and earrings.

Our splurges were on rings and HM! HM is two weeks in Hawaiian resorts with oceanfront views. I cannot wait!

My biggest splurge was my jewelry lol. I had planned to get some on etsy spending less than $100, and then I tried some on at the bridal shop and $400 later, I spent way more than I intended. And I added a videographer after I thought I didn't need one, cause I realized I was regretting it. Otherwise I kept everything else under what I budgeted for.

ETA: oh, i also made the decision to pay for my BM hair. I knew that if I didn't, some of them would skip it and I really just wanted everyone there the morning of, so I decided to. It's only $40 pp, so it's not a huge cost, but it wasn't necessary either.

I would have to say one would be my veil. I initially purchased a cheaper one, but couldn't get the $300.00 one I tried on with my dress. I had to have it. I think the other would be our Football Jerseys that we had personalized with Mr. & Mrs. Abbey and our wedding date as the numbers. $500.00 but so worth it to us.

Our DJ and photo booth were probably our splurges. We found a cheaper DJ but we knew the more expensive one did an amazing job and we were willing to pay for it, we also got out photo booth through him which was definitely a splurge because we weren't sure the budget would allow yet but FH told the DJ to book it because he knew how much I wanted one.

Our food and booze was our big splurge. We had about 50 people at our wedding and we brought in a Michelin Star chef and his team to cook all the food. It ended up being almost $600 per person, but it was definitely worth it! The food was AMAZING!

We splurged on the Chiavari chairs and our stage setup. It is going to be worth it, though!

FH fell in love with an expensive photographer, so that was our first spluge. I recently upgraded the linens because after building a picture of the colors together I didn't like the way they would like with the flower centerpieces. But by doing so, I ended up adding red chargers... so chargers would definitely be a splurge. Originally we didn't want them, but the red pulled the whole the thing together and now we are a bit obsessed. Who knew chargers could be so expensive!

We splurged on the photographer. Now we have peace of mind knowing our photographer will produce great photos and be professional and timely.

Food was our biggest splurge. Our venue gave us a certain allowance covered by our package, but I wanted our guests (who are all travelling from out of town) to have a kickass meal so we went with upgraded meal options.

Also I splurged on wedding party and mom gifts. I'm an over-gifter in general so I really couldn't help it.

The venue. We could have found cheaper options for venue rentals, but I had to have it

Our venue, and with it the catering and bar. Totally worth it! The food is delicious, the alcohol is high end, and after we saw the venue, we couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else.

We splurged on acrylic invitations. They are sooooo beautiful and we are the first of our family and friends to have them. Plus they set the stage for the acrylic sweetheart table we will be sitting at for our reception. We also splurged on the photo booth. We could have gone with a cheaper one, but the one we have is so cool.
