Wedding dress; Anyone get a Disney dress?

Breanna , on July 30, 2013 at 3:26 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 26

So, somehow, FH stumbled onto the AA Disney Fairy Tale line, and fell in LOVE with the Cinderella dress... And I kind if did too. It is a tiny bit out of budget, and am thinking I will try on several dresses in my budget, and if I can't find anything I like, then go and try that one on.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried on any of these dresses or bought one Smiley smile

I tried on the Cinderella one and while it was beautiful I felt too poofy. I'm short and don't want to look like a cupcake on my wedding day so I went with a different dress. But if you like that one it is lovely!

Also, AA has sales fairly often so if you've got awhile before you need to order I would ask ten if they know I any sales coming up that would put it more in your price range Smiley smile

    Lol @Tom!

I am 5'10 and while I never envisioned myself in a big ball gown on my wedding day, I am starting to like them more and more, and hopefully it won't be too poofy if I end up trying it

That model's skin looks almost plastic-y. Gorgeous dress though.

I never imagined I'd wear a princess gown either, but I tried on for my first wedding and fell in love.

HAHAH TOM YOU'RE ON FIRE TODAY!

I tired the Belle one on but it just wasn't what I had pictured and I didn't like how the bottom fell on me.

I know there are a few brides on here who have the dresses from the Disney Collection.

I fell in love with that dress on Pinterest, but never tried it on. It is a gorgeous dress, but I was afraid of how poofy it would be. I love the beading across the top. I know Nicole C has Belle's dress, and I think someone else might have it as well.

    ETA: Tom that's hysterical!

I tried on one but went with another AA dress. Wait for one of their semi annual sales (if you can) and you'll save at least $100 Smiley smile Get on their email list too for an extra $25 off

I agree with waiting to buy unless you absolutely have your heart set on it. I ordered my dress about a month or so after we decided we were going to get married. The first dress I realized I chose because I was caught up in the moment of being engaged and mistook that for the emotion of "this is the one". I realized I hate taffeta so exchanged the dress a few months later and then the dress envy I incurred drove me bananas for a year and a half to the point I put a hundred dollar down payment on a dress I didn't really need or wanted and would have lost that money if she didn't rent tuxedos and my son hadn't graduated. Then I came super close to purchasing another dress that I am glad I didn't. Bottom line, don't drive yourself crazy. Wait until you have a better idea of the type of gown you want and the type of wedding you want. Even your choice of venue can affect how you feel about your dress (whether it fits the venue style or not). Good luck

I agree with waiting (I ordered early and LOVE my dress, but am definitely considering some different alterations from what i originally planned on)

In regards to the Cinderella dress, I tried that and the Snow White one on, both were beautiful dresses. The Cinderella one comes with the option of having the skirt come "with or without sparkles." I ended up going with a completely different dress all together, but if I'd gone with a Disney the Cinderella one would've been it.

Oh and where you've got the time, I'd definitely wait until they have a sale again, I bought my gown during the Spring Sale and we saved $200

I almost bought it, but I had my heart set on a tea length. I was this l l close to buying it and chopping it... needless to say I didn’t. I ended up buying a tea length dress... try it on and make sure you absolutely love it! Good Luck.

When I put on my dress I burst into tears. I never expected that reaction but I felt so much like a "bride" that I couldn't stop the tears. They couldn't have paid me to wait to buy it Smiley smile

I love the top part of that dress SO MUCH. The bottom is a little too poofy for me. But it's a gorgeous dress. And who doesn't want to feel like cinderella on their wedding day? Haha

I did! I got Belle's Dress (pic of model... unfortunately I'm on FHs computer while he upgrades my wireless/video card so obviously the pic with me is not here...)

I also tried on one of Cinderella's out of the glass slipper collection but it was a definite NO for that one...

I tried on the Snow White(original one), and loved the bodice. But, I didn't like that the skirt was so poofy, and it was a thick fabric underneath with just a layer of the tulle on top. I didn't like that you could clearly see the under layer fabric. It didn't have the dreamy floating effect I wanted. Maybe if it had a few more tulle layers, and was slightly more a-line and less bell shaped in the skirt it would have been a contender. http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Disney-Fairy-Tale-Bridal/207/?pg=1

The new Snow White seems like they put the least effort into it of all of their dresses.

I havent tried one of these on, but i'm like you in that i never EVER thought i'd be in a ballgown. i'm really not girly. I tried on a vera ballgown to see if i liked the bodice, and ended up LOVING the whole dress. i wouldn't rule out trying it on
