water, water, WATER

Panda Bride, on January 3, 2011 at 3:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 44

One of my new years resolutions is to drink 100 ounces of water a day to help with my skin and weight loss. So far today I've downed 35 ounces. I absolutely hate drinking all liquids (I used to drink 1-3 sips at each meals and pretty much nothing more for the day). Anyone have some tips for increasing water intake? I have a 24oz cup that FH got me for xmas, so I'm trying to drink 5 of them by bed time.

If you want flavor I would suggest crystal light. You could get the to go packets that help boost your metabolism and everything! I would also suggest checking out your local GNC or Vitamin Shop and seeing if you could get a detox supplement to add to your water or to take daily. It helps drop excess water weight and helps your body process fats faster to help lose weight.

Adding citrus slices always helps, but might not be easy at work. Have you tried the single servings of Crystal Light? It's only 5 calories per pouch, and adds a little flavor to plain water.

Oh i tried that one year and almost pee'd up myself in my Pastor's car.

He had to stop ON THE HIGHWAY so I could pee behind some bushes. One of my most embarassing moments.

I concluded after that - my body does not need 8 glasses of water like they say. but i do try to drink one bottle each day.

It may seem obvious, but make sure you have water with you at all times. Even if you go to a 2.5 hour movie without your water, that's 2.5 hours worth of water drinking that you will have to make up!

If you don't like the blah taste of water, I suggest Crystal Light. They make a lot of different flavors and some have extra stuff added to them (like fiber, vitamins, etc.) so they help your health in other ways than just being water. Good luck, Lynley!! You can do it Smiley smile

@jordan and veronica....its easy to find you're daily water intake in ounces. all you do is divide your weight by 2 and thats what you're supposed to drink.

INcorporate it with a snack, and it goes down easier and boosts your metabolism for weight loss. I make myself drink it too. At first I hated it, now I feel like crap if I don't drink water! My day goes like this:

    8am Bfast and coffee ~250cal

11am Snack and bottle of water ~100 cal

1pm Lunch and bottle water ~400cal

    3pm Snack and water ~100cal

    5pm Water/ workout

    7pm Dinner and water ~600cal

I don't force myself to down all the water at once either, but I make myself finish it before the next snack/ meal. I also set alarms on my phone/comp to remind me to take a break and get food/ water.

So I'm not going to be doing 100, but I'm trying the whole 8x8 thing.. 8 8oz glasses of water a day. I don't HATE it, but I do get a sick, sloshy feeling in the pit of my stomach when I drink a lot of water all at once. Every once and a while I'll use those little flavor packets to put in my water.. But I'm trying to do it without it.

We can do it together- message me or text me if you need support! lol Smiley smile

Try the citrus like some of the girls recommended. It really does help flavor the water. Lemons, limes, oranges, whatever you like. You can try mint leaves too! Try mixing up the water and citrus and leaving it the the fridge overnight so the flavors can mix. Then it will be ready to drink the next day. You can even get more than one bottle so you can have 2 at work.

I heard about a study done in germany

that stated that drinking a glass of room temp water with lemon

is an excellent thing to do for the body. it cleanses the system

    and speeds up the metabolism.

don't know how accurate they are about this but there is some truth to drinking water first thing in the morning

CRYSTAL LIGHT. You must try it. I was determined to drink more water so I tried Crystal Light and now I choose that over sodas. Fruit Punch hands down is the best flavor, it tastes just like kool-aid. Raspberry Ice is great also. I started making pitchers of it so that I could pour myself a glass whenever I was thirsty. But if you are always on the go, definitely get the single packet Crystal Light and save a 16.9oz water bottle that you can refill with water.

I was having issues with drinking a lot of water, but I started using straws and as odd as it may sound it increased my water intake and decreased my food intake.

Ok so it could be because I am just wierd... but I did this a while ago, I was doing wieght watchers and they suggest so much water a day you know? Well I decided to drink 2 20 oz bottles of water on the way to work one day, and drink as much as a could in one day, and after that I literally could not get enough water. You will have to pee a lot at first, but your body gets used to the extra water intake and it will adjust itself. HOWEVER, you have to be careful, especially since you hardly drink anything at all, you CAN basically drown yourself by throwing off your electrolites.

I'm trying that one too ... not quite 100 oz but at least 4 bottles of 16.9 oz of water (and no I am not drinking 4 seperate bottles, I use the same one all day long) ... I'm also cutting back on junk food, and trying to incorporate 30 minutes of physical activity into my schedule each day ... and once I finish off my last 2 bottles of wine (this could take awhile), I don't intend to drink anymore alcohol because it's basically empty calories ...

I have a 32 oz cup that sits on my desk... along with a big Brita water pitcher that I usually fill up twice a day. It makes it very easy to get enough water each day. =)

Oooo water with lemon is absolutely amazing! I hate ice cold water, so I prefer mine at room temperature (everyone especially my Mom thinks I'm crazy) so that's good to know about room temp water.
