The Three Things You Will Be Bridezilla About

My brother got married last summer, ad my new SIL said that someone told her she was allowed to have three things that she super cared about and would go a little crazy about before it tipped over to being a full blown bridezilla (or groomzilla!). I thought it was a cute thought, and want to know......

***What are the three things about your wedding that you will allow yourself to be a little bridezilla about?***

Mine are:

1. Our rings (will wear them every day forever!)

2. My dress (I am self conscious about my body, so my dress alterations must be on point)

3. My hair (I am obsessed with my hair, so it has to be great that day!)

Mine are a little vain, I know. I just know that those would be the only things I would really not be easy going about if they weren't good! I know everyone will have a good time and enjoy themselves, and so those are the only things I would go bridezilla about if necessary!! hah.

Can't wait to hear what others would go a little bridezilla about!! :-)

My hair/make up, bridesmaids being on time (some of them apparantly don't own a clock), and my FH's boots and jeans. He's a diesel mechanic and he plans on wearing jeans and boots to the wedding and it honestly wouldn't shock me if he showed up with oil stains all over his jeans and boots.

    1. Everything running smoothly.

    2. Our guests enjoying themselves.

    3. The ice cream bar as a late night snack! This is my favorite part of the reception and I cannot wait!

For me, as long as everyone is on time I will be fine. I'm trying to make it as pleasant an experience as possible.

I was in the "don't give a shit" camp. It was 8 years before we could legally get married anywhere. We were going to be ecstatic about finally getting legally married, no matter how it went.

There were actually 3 things I got a little crazy about from set up to break down.

    1. When setting up, the lace table runners were about 6 inches longer on each side of the table than the tablecloth and it looked tacky. It bugged me so much I had to go through and cut them all off.

    2. We got ready at my grandmas but were taking pictures at my aunt's ranch down the road. Her house is super hard to find (I've been lost a full 20 minutes in the middle of nowhere before). So someone was going to leave their car in front of the turn with a posterboard directing people in. The florist was supposed to drop off the flowers at 1 and it was 12:15 and everyone was too excited to care about getting the damn sign out there. I was freaking out about the florist getting lost.

    3. at the rehearsal, our wedding coordinator told us we had to be at the ceremony earlier than we thought, so the day of, we were super pressed for picture time (and were 20 minutes away from the venue). You can just see me getting more worried about time in my pictures (luckily those were the pictures with my in-laws)

    1. On-time: Because everyone who's been to weddings with lots of delays knows waiting around is no fun! We went over our timeline many times and put buffers here and there just in case.

    2. Food and drinks: It doesn't have to be out of this world good. But there has to be enough for everyone and they should be delicious!

    3. People drama: This is only hypothetical as our family and friends are awesome and mature people. But I probably would have freaked out if somebody started making a scene.

Okay, so assuming most everything else goes well...

    1. This whole shindig had better run smoothly; extremely well organized

    2. I can handle a few unexpected guests, although I'd prefer not to. But I don't want a boatload of people to show up regardless of their circumstances - whether they RSVP'd "No" then changed their minds; uninvited; plus ones, twos, threes of invited guests. This really freaks me out!

    3. I'd like for guests to enjoy the ceremony and refrain or keep to a minimum the use of their smart phones and tablets when taking pictures. Anybody see that article where the groom had to lean over to see his bride, because guests were in the aisle taking pictures, blocking his view? Yeah, no need for that!

    1. Including everyone-- MIL tried to boot FIL from the rehearsal dinner (she offer to pay) NOT going to happen.

    2. Having a dry wedding-- didn't feel any push back till I came on this site, but still-- DH and were NOT going to budge on that

    3. Nothing else

    1. Starting/arriving on time

    2. The guest list. Already had a blow-up with my mom over inviting random people I've never met. And she used the word bridezilla during our argument.

    3. The photography

Having a fun, easygoing, wedding (I really got irritated when my family members went all panic attack mode when everything was fine).

Anyone wearing white or black. My family is really traditional about things like this (which is odd because we aren't traditional about most things). Plus I would then have to deal with my 85 lb grandma trying to bodily throw someone out of my wedding.

My dress. I'd been dreaming of that things since I was about 2 and so it was the one thing I really wanted to be amazing and my one big splurge.

    1. My dress 2. Flowers (they have to be EXACTLY as I want them) 3. Food (if it's cold I am going to lose it) Thankfully, time is not an issue for us.

    1. Food/alcohol. I'm a cook, I am deeply passionate about food. And I am super picky about wine. I have my white picked out (NZ Sauvignon Blanc) and my red (French Beaujolais). Not using brand names, because I'm not sure if that's cool. The menu....well, we are doing a backyard, casual BBQ, and I want the food to reflect that. If FH had his way it would be burgers and poppers. And he recommended red solo cups. There's casual and then there's frat party.

I don't have 3. Unless wedding crashers count. It is very likely I will have to sit people down and be very clear about not bringing people that didn't receive an invite.

    1) Starting on time

    2) Mostly stress free morning of (I'm getting married in my hometown but don't live there anymore so I'm getting a hotel room for my OOT bridesmaid and me because my mom's the Southern Hospitality Queen and will probably invite 12 people to stay in their house the night before!

    3) My hair. I'm doing it myself because no stylist I've had can make it look as good as I can (but I can't do squat with anyone else's, mine just responds weird). If I hear, "Oh, you say this is the only way your hair will curl and this is the only hairspray that works on it? I promise this will work even better" one more time...
