The Atrium in West Orange, NJ

I love their food & menu choices but I thought the place was rather dated and the bridal suite was too small.

I've been there a number of times. The staff is very, very accommodating. If you're looking in the West Orange area, I'd also check out Mcloones Boathouse, The Manor and the Ridgefield Regency, all within minutes of the Atrium.

Celia, we have a tasting with the Atrium today if for whatever reason we don't like the food we are probably going to look at the Richfield Regency. Did you attend weddings there?

To the private user the ballroom seemed more modern than the cocktail room, but I thought the cocktail area had a bit of a unique feel to it. They also only do one wedding at a time so the bridal and groomsmen parties will actually have the entire downstairs ballroom to themselves which I thought was awesome!

If we go with them we'd have the ceremony and reception there. With a fairly large guest list of at least 180. So I was mainly interested in their service and treatment of guests and of course the food because lets face it that's what most people remember lol

You get to do a tasting before you book? I'm jealous! None of the places I visited offered tastings before a contract was signed, and even now we won't be doing a tasting until like 12 weeks before the wedding.

I live in Morristown and I've never been to the atrium. We looked at smaller venues as I was not interested in having almost 200 guests. We are having our ceremony and reception at the Conservatory at the Madison Hotel. Good luck I hope it works out!

I've been to the RR many times too; you'll work with Trisha there, and she is fantastic.

FML; you'll love the Madison; it's one of the places I recommend to our intimate wedding couples. They will treat you like royalty, and the conservatory is gorgeous.

@Jacqui722 Most places do want a deposit to secure a date, but you can ask them to put a clause in the contract stating if you don't like the food you get your full deposit back and can back out of the contract. Every place we've been to I told them I wasn't comfortable fully committing without tasting the food. Most places will somehow accommodate that if you ask, but won't offer out right. I'm surprised that you have to wait 12 weeks before the wedding to do the tasting though!

I did see the Madison Hotel online it looked very, very pretty. Between online and actual viewings I've looked at so many places I hope today after the tasting that the search is over!

@Celia - its really the only place i wanted to get married! I went to school at Fairleigh Dickinson and have ALWAYS loved it!

OTW got married at The Atrium and had a beautiful wedding-- she also loved the food

Update ladies! The tasting went fantastic! The food was really good and the gentleman we are working with is really nice. I couldn't be happier with out choice to go with them!

I am getting married in the Atrium, but haven't done the tasting yet. I plan to go with some of th bridal party and make a fun evening of it
