SWR: and maybe a tad bit TMI....

Danielle R., on May 27, 2010 at 5:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Okay, I need to get a bit personal for a minute. I have noticed that no matter what kind of deodorant I use (including the Degree or Secret Clinical Strength) I STILL get sweaty! Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something that my doctor can prescribe that is stronger?

If it is something really bad that is affecting you a lot I know of people who have gotten botox under the arms to stop it which may be an option for you.

The only thing I've heard of that a doctor can do for you is botox injections into your sweat glands. Just like how botox will paralyze the muscles in your forehead so wrinkles don't show, it will paralyze your sweat glands so they are not overly active. Some women get this done right before their weddings and swear by it. Sorry, that's all I know of

I would not even know. I would say to just buy a bunch of different brands and try them now to find out what works.

I don't even think Botox would be an option... insurance would never cover that and we definitely don't have the money to pay for that out of pocket. :-P

Have you tried using degree for men or any other deoderants for men? I use degree for men because I used to have that problem. Some days I can just use Dove and be fine...But then other days I definitely needs a mans strength deoderant...lol.

I use Certain Dri!!!! I put it on at night and I don't sweat the next day! It's amazing! I used this stuff in high school before it was OTC. I was a psycho athlete and would sweat like crazy. I had to put the stuff on, then wrap my pits in saran wrap. LOL. And it burned! But Certain Dri is like the same price as Secret Platinum and it's the best stuff I've used. I think it's 4.99 at Target.

Maybe it's a sodium intake issue... Try eating less salty stuff? or use sea salt when your cooking..

That's just an idea, probably wrong, but worth a shot right?

It's with all the deodorants...usually on the bottom shelf at every store I've ever bought it. I guess it shrinks your sweat glands in your pits. I mean, you're still going to sweat elsewhere, but at least you won't have stains or wetness.

Here is my two cents on the subject. Sweating sucks, but it is your body's natural way of cooling off and getting rid of toxins. Your armpits are a major lymph node area. Using anti-persperants coats the skin and clogs the pores making it impossible for your body to work there. Also most anti-persperants and deoderants contain some form of aluminum, which is shown to cause Alsheimers and other health problems. I live in Arizona and I do just fine with a natural essential oil deoderant. What is worse, feeling damp now and then, or causing long term damage to your body to stay dry?

Honestly, I could kinda care less about my sweaty problem on most days, but I do NOT want to be a stinky sweaty bride on my wedding day. Thank you both for the suggestion on Certain Dri.. I'll go get that tonight!

Certain Dri is amazing. Yes it is over the counter. It use to be a percription, but now you can just buy it in the stores. I had terrible sweat when I was in high school. It was a miracle worker.

I'll have to give Dove a shot too. My FH just went to Wal-Mart to try to get Certain Dri for me, and they didn't have it. Maybe I'll try Walgreens.
