SUPER cool seating chart / event planning tool WITH social media application!

ashlee, on November 29, 2011 at 6:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Man oh man... my fiance is going to be *so pissed he didnt think of this first! this was on The Aisle today. SO COOL!_____________________

Putting together a seating chart has never been a simple task - until now. Allow us to introduce you to Social Tables, an easy, elegant, and fun seating chart tool that will save anyone planning an event at least two hours. Social Tables helps you create a web-based seating chart for your special occasion AND lets you build a fun, active online community for your guests. Co-founder, Dan Berger came up with the idea three years ago as he was heading to a childhood friend’s wedding in Miami…

“I realized I’m not going to know anyone there because I haven’t seen the kid in years. I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if I could meet some ladies before I got there?’. And then I thought, ‘What if there was a social networking utility for events with assigned seating?’. In other words, be able to see who I’m seated with before I get to the wedding.”

    CONTINUED -----

Et voilà, Social Tables was born! Now hosts and event planners can come to the site, design their floor plan, and upload their guest list. If they want, they can publicize their seating chart to their guests. Attendees can interact before or follow up with each other after. Watch the video for a quick “How-To” and then get over to SocialTables.com to get started.

I doubt i would let anyone have access to it prior to an event --- just to avoid any whining and complaining.... but we just went to 2 weddings, and i would love to be able to get in touch with some of the people we met and sat with... rather than asking, "hey, who was that really fun drunk couple?" lol

Hi there! I'm the founder of Social Tables... thanks for posting about us, ashlee!! We love The Aisle and are happy people are using them Smiley smile

Just to clarify, we're a seating chart app first and a social media tool second. Sharing a wedding's seating chart is a feature and it's completely *optional*

If you do choose to share the seating chart, you can decide when to do it: before the wedding, after the wedding, or never.

We also allow a wedding to have multiple planners so that several people (the groom, mom, etc) can edit the same seating chart. It makes the planning experience much more fun! Smiley smile

We're currently working on the next version of our product which will not only have a much better design but will include many features that brides have been asking us to integrate.

Thanks again for the feedback and for checking us out! I can be reached at ***@************.*** if you need anything.

    Dan

    Sure!

Shemika was on our site and started using our customer service chat tool so I had to ask how she learned about us... and that's how I ended up here Smiley winking

I love the fact that you're so ahead of the curve, ashlee, in terms of technology! One of the brides on David Tutera's My Fair Wedding used our tool too so we're grateful to have such vocal support from our early adopters.

I think the amazing niche you have hit on, is the ability to connect (either pre or post event) with people that you have met that you may not otherwise connect with.

my fiance and i went attended 2 weddings in november, and at each one we met people at our table that we really enjoyed interacting with... but i could not tell you their names off the top of my head if i had to. at one wedding there were over 300 guests, many of which were invited by the father of the bride, not the couple - we don't know the father of the bride... essentially rendering it slightly embarrassing / awkward and arduous at best trying to figure out who those people were.

oooh ooooh oooooh -- i just thought of something really cool that would definitely be worth investigating... and may provide a revenue stream at some point.... it may be something you are already working on, but can't hurt! maybe i will email you separately, so as not to turn this thread into a bizdev session. :o)

I am so thrilled you posted about this! I have been asking if there was a tool like this online (without the social media piece because that is totally brilliant and I didn't think of it!). But what a wonderful idea! Our best man was just telling us the importance of introducing people in advance of sitting together so it is more fun for everyone.

Mad props on this cool idea!
