So, about those response / rsvp cards.... (help?)

Lauren, on January 27, 2011 at 3:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

So, initially we weren't doing response cards, we were going to have an all online rsvp through our wedding website, but due to the fact that not everyone has a computer, we opted to add the regular old rsvp through the mail option. I designed some at home on my computer. since I DIY'd my invitations, I wanted them to match instead of just purchasing them online or at a store. However, I have no idea what a standard / normal size to print them would be, (looking for actual dementions) or where to find envelopes (preferably a pastel pink, pastel green, or dark brown) in the right sizes, and I know USPS adds fees for items too big, or too small, or too square, too round, too anything other than a normal looking letter! Honestly, I'd like to avoid spending any more $ on these than we have to. I'll post a pic. They'll be printed on pink card stock. Like I said, they match my invites I just need to know what size to make them and to find coordinating envelopes. Any help will be appreciated!

^I may make a few changes / additions to these. Those were just to get an idea.

Do I really need a spot for "number of guests" or wont they just write the names of those attending on the line? I'd rather know the names of the guests than the numbers. lol and did anyone give options individually on theirs like onse set of check boxes for the ceremony and one for the reception? or just assume they'll be at both? I'm so new to this.

@Lauren....It looks good. It is not customary to have an option for attending the ceremony only. Technically speaking, the RSVP is for the reception.

Right, so you can get an idea of how many people to feed really, but i saw some online that had spaces for ceremony and reception so i was like.. hmm... well, that's good news, not much more room on the card to fit anything else!

Lauren, have you considered vistaprint.com 100 free postcards? if you really want envelopes you can add them on to your order. The envelops with the postcards are white, but you can add a colored image on the front corner and back flap.

Reply cards are typically about 3.5 x 5. This is also the smallest size for postcards. Be sure to follow postal guidelines, should you choose to do a postcard,. Guidelines are available at www.usps.com. Good lick with your project.

Thanks! yeah I was actually looking at those earlier but I was hoping to print from home - we already have a ton of wide long pink strips of leftover card stock scraps from the invites that would be perfect to use and match better than the postcards. plus I tried uploading my design onto vistaprint but it made it all blurry and stretched out. hmmmmm... it's still an option, but I'd rather use the stuff I have if I can. I just have no clue on size or where to find the envelopes..

Find a good deal on envelopes, and then make your response card fit.

We're having a space on ours for the # attending ceremony as well as the # attending reception because we are having an outdoor ceremony and need to know how many chairs to set up, and if we need more than the venue has on hand we have to pay extra (which we are fine with, but don't want to waste the $&dollarSmiley winking. If we were having it in a church or chapel with pews, we wouldn't need to know how many were planning to attend.

Here's what ours look like (just because I love them so darn much and like to share Smiley smile
