October Brides (well, any brides!)

MrsMartin101213, on July 24, 2013 at 1:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 39

My wedding is fast approaching, 10/12/13. While I have the BIG things booked and taken care of, it seems the little odd end things are more stressful. Invites are going out in a few weeks, bridesmaids dresses should be in soon, things are on the right track but yet I can't sleep at night. Not to mention I am having nightmares that my ceremony before sunset will run so behind that we lose the sun. Sounds crazy, but it's freakin me out! Is anyone else suffering from the same stress as me? I do take a step back, think for a minute and calm myself down and tell myself it is OKAY, but I am a worry wart naturally! How do you guys channel this stress/anxiety?

I just make a checklist and try to accomplish a few things every night or day. My goal this week is to get all the envelopes addressed so that when we assemble the invites in 2 weeks it will be one less thing to do. I'm also trying to set up all my appointments and that will force me to get everything done before the appointment that I need to.

I use the checklist here on WW each month to make sure I'm on top of things. Wine does help too!

    @Valerie I like your style!

@Laudie Thank you, those are great ideas. My FH was actually saying the same thing last night. He said let's just make a list and DO IT. I do have a few appointments and finalizations to set up also. So much work you dont realize until you become a bride!

@Jamie - Haha I know! AAnd what MrsGV said, the checklist is SUPER helpful on WW...there are things that are not on there but it reminds you to do the most important things

The key is to make sure you are ORGANIZED. I have all my stuff in a binder and I bring it with me everywhere. FH thinks I'm too obsessed with the wedding, but I know chaos will ensue if I am not on top of things.

I feel you! My wedding is the same weekend. While I know I'm in fine shape, I still have moments where I freak out and think, "Oh God, when am I going to get all this crap done?!" The little details are stressful to me because it seems like they're never-ending.

My go-to: Checklists. So many checklists. Pick a project and tackle it--getting something accomplished will help because you feel more productive and in-charge. I'm working on addressing all of my envelopes now. And of course, I agree with Valerie: wine.

@Laura Nicole - Great tips. Sometimes I think I try to get too many things done at once and stress myself out over them. I do need to work on just doing them one by one! I am having our invitation company address our envelopes so at least that is ONE thing out of the way for me.

I am in the same place...wedding same weekend. I feel OK right now because all of my To-Do's have been accomplished on time. But I know how busy with travel September is going to be. . .I have no idea how it will all get done.

I carry my wedding binder around. I have 2 checklists, and i keep adding stuff to one of the checklists.

I agree it's stressful! And I want to make time to still have a life while planning a wedding. That's not easy either. I feel like the wedding is all I talk about.

Good call on outsourcing the envelopes... I was originally just going to print labels, but I didn't really care for the look. So now I'm handwriting them all, and it is not a joy, haha.

@Lindy13 Totally feel you on that! On top of just getting stuff done, its the bachelorette party that will take time away, my bridal shower, my other friends bachelorette party. I am very excited for those things, dont get me wrong, but it is just that much less time spent on to-dos! Not to mention our pastor is requiring 3 premarital counseling sessions. I think it is a great idea and investment, but who has the time!?I will have to make some but jeez I am a busy lady!

@Laura Nicole LOL I am sure I wouldn't be too happy with myself if I ended up handwriting!

Same weekend here for me...and its a DW in Vegas. We aren't booking anything until mid August, when we have the money for it. Then we'll sit down at the computer and book hotel, plane and car all at once and the big stuff will be taken care of.

Lists?!! I have a purse size calendar i carry with me, i have a memo app on my phone AND the dates and to do's in my phone's calendar, a note pad at home, OMG I have more lists than I have things to do!

My MOH found an online list maker that is cool, so I can get at it from home, work or phone called Scribbless. So yeah, there's that list too! Plus I can share lists with anyone so if I need help I just send them an email link and they can check stuff off or add to it (heaven forbid).

After the big stuff is booked FH is "letting" me handle the details. As long as he gets his hair cut the week I set and has his dress shirt in time, I'm ok with that!

@Laura Nicole - I'm just printing directly from the printer because I have terrible handwriting lol. I did a few already and I think they still look really nice

Laudie, that was my next step! But my printer is kind of old and was being an asshole and kept "jamming" and ruined my envelopes. So I said screw it, I'll just write them. I'm too far in now to go back!

I'm doing 5-10 a night and it's managable... it's just my current gripe. Smiley smile
