NWR- What are you currently reading?

Harley_Bride102813, on August 19, 2013 at 7:36 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 36

I saw another post about books about marriage, etc. and got me thinking... what are you currently reading for pleasure? I'm about half way through Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. Is based in Savannah so one of my neighbors lent it to me. LOVING it! Makes me even more anxious to get there!

I like to read the books my son is reading in school so I can help him with projects & questions that may arise.

Wonderful book by the way, in case anyone is looking for a quick read

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson loving it at the moment.

A friend just gave me "the Submissive" by Tara su me or something apparently it is what inspired 50 shades. Its better written but currently I don't see the appeal at all.

I'm also making my way thought What to expect when you're expecting

Some great reads!! I haven't read Jodi Picoult or Dan Brown in years! I'm the same way MrsP! I always try to read what my son is reading as well. He'll be an 8th grader this year so interested to see what is on the list.

Haven't tried Audible yet... with as many books as I have waiting for me on my Kindle, not sure I should start either. LOL

Lynzey, I loved Room. Great book.

I'm reading And The Mountains Echoed by Khalid Hosseini right now. Just finished Sharp Objects, by Gillian Flynn (written before Gone Girl). Very different books, but both very good!

I'm reading The Lady of the Rivers by Philippa Gregory, my favorite historical fiction writer! It's about Jacquetta Woodville, a figure in England during the War of the Roses.

Harley Bride, I love that book! I just finished reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I couldn't put it down!

ETA: for anyone looking for audio books, try your local public library first. Most libraries have hundreds of audio books you can "borrow" for free, you just download them to your computer and can transfer to ipod/etc. So good!

"Day of Infamy" by Walter Lord. (Bombing of Pearl Harbor)

It's really really good and well-researched. I started reading non-fiction a year ago and now fiction doesn't do it for me anymore.

@Trena, I'm reading The Great Gatsby too! I didn't read it in high school either, so I'm reading it now. I'm reading other books at the same time, though.

I love Jodi Picoult, Plain Truth is the last book of hers that I haven't read yet. They all make me cry, though haha.
