I used Makeup Forever HD Foundation with Victoria's Secret Airbrush FX Primer. They lasted really well on the big day and I have combo/oily skin.

It's pricey (unless you go eBay!) but Hourglass Veil Mineral Makeup primer is awesome. A friend of mine works for Hourglass, I've had free samples and it is just great.

I haven't used them - but B.B. by Smashbox is advertising on Hulu, so I saw several commercials for it yesterday. They say it's a lightweight primer with or without foundation coloring, and claim that it works great for photographs.

Sold at Sephora, so it might be work going to take a look at a sample.

Now who says advertising doesn't work.... Smiley tongue

Try going into a Sephora or MAC and talking to one of the sales reps. Depending on your skin type, different primers and foundations will work differently.

I always do my research on youtube and makeupalley.com before I buy something. You can type in "foundation for (insert your kind of skin here) skin" and find a bunch of videos with reviews that will help.

I use the smashbox photofinish primer. I have tried others, but either the makeup doesn't hold or the primer is really greasy. I don't have that issue with smashbox. I use MAC foundation, I love it, but I like the heavier coverage it gives.

Def go to a sephora counter to try out things, they can give you a complete makeover if you buy 50 dollars worth of products or a gift card (b/c you might want to see how long the makeup lasts for you)..or you can try out a product for free, they will help you apply it.

I loove smashbox, I used the smashbox studio skin 15 hour foundation (it has heavy coverage) and the smashbox photofinish luminizing primer..people were asking me who did my makeup/complimenting, but I had done it myself..but I practiced and watched youtube videos (my sephora where I had the wedding wouldn't do day of wedding, and i had two flakey makeup artists so I just did it myself). Normally I'd suggest brides have a pro do their makeup though if they don't wear it often.

Also for setting powder I also used smashbox, and also I have Mac mineralized skin finish which is good too.

Hands down, Laura Mercier!! Has an awesome primer and a tinted moisturizer, not really a foundation.

@Jessica: The MAC foundation tends to be a bit heavy, so a lot of people I know don't like it for that reason, but that is the reason that I love it Smiley smile

The Smashbox BB cream is really nice but it's not the best primer especially if your skin is oily. The Smashbox photofinish primers are really nice and my favorite foundation is Lorac Natural performance foundation. The Lorac you can only buy in sephora's inside JC penny. But if you go to a sephora in JC penny they don't charge to do your makeup but they don't do full face they do 10 minute express services.
