NWR: places to visit and eat in Nashville??

Mrs. Roberts, on February 16, 2011 at 1:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

FH and I will be flying out to Nashville for my sisters wedding in less than a month. We don't have much time (or money) to spend there, but are looking for recommendations of where to eat and visit. Anyone from that area or traveled their recently? I could use some ideas!!

I have been to Nashville twice and by far, the best thing I've done there was taking a cruise on the General Jackson. When we went, we were able to purchase tickets that didn't include the show, which saved us a great deal of money. They had a live band on the upper deck with a bar and that was all the entertainment we needed. It was a great way to view the city! We also liked the Grand Ole Opry Resort. They had a huge conservatory with dancing fountains in the center. I think they have remodeled since then so that may have changed. It was really nice cause it took up almost an entire afternoon and it was free Smiley smile In general just walking around town and stopping by the many little bars is a lot of fun. There are a ton of great, local musicians that play pretty much nightly. The Coyote Ugly bar was especially fun.

Well i used to live in murfreesboro which is about 45 minutes away... about all i can say is if you are the type that like to go out and party and all that, 2nd avenue in downtown is quite a bit of fun. coyote ugly is there along with rock bars, country bars, clubs, whatever you could want to do. Grand Ole Opry Resort is very nice, but parking is like $7 in the farthest parking spots that there are. I'm wondering if it has reopened after the floods that we had or not. Some places aren't yet.

I live in Nashville and the Downtown bridge is very romantic and free. I think it is called the shelby street bridge. Tootsie's downtown is a very popular county live music bar.

I looked at the General Jackson and it is pricy, you can't break up tickets either. I have been to Nashville before, but fh hasn't so I am trying to come up with new experiences. Thanks for the tips future Mrs. Clark, I have heard fo Tootsie, but wasn't sure how good it was. I will have to keep researching!

Girl this is just right up my alley!! hehe I miss Nashville foods! O'Charleys is my ABSOLUTE favorite!! It's a casual place similar to a Applebee's. They have then potatoe and cheese soup too die for! Their rolls are amazing too! There are many O'Charleys around mid-tn. Wildhorse Saloon downtown is a fun adventure if you're into country music. Margaritaville is new to downtown, I have a friend who works there said it's a great place. Joe's Crab Shack is yummy too. Where is your sister getting married? Do you know where yall are staying yet, like the town?

I have been to O'Charleys before! My sister lives in Hopkinsville, KY, but we have to fly into Nashville so I thought I would show FH around a little since he has never been there. We were thinking about the Wildhorse as well, we like old country so fh is excited!

Nashville's great, anything on Broadway. Tooties is pretty famous. Wild Horse Salon. There's a cute little karoke bar in one of the alley's (I think Rascal Flatts started it).

I ate the BEST burgers at this place called Paradise something... it's decorated like a trailer park. it's genius! their ash trays are live size toilets filled with sand. They also have awesome sweet potato french fries Smiley smile It's located near the place with the needle thing sticking outta it downtown. There's also a Coyote Ugly... Smiley winking

@Mona: I knew it! But it sounded a bit "off" lol for the kind of place it is Smiley smile Isn't it awesome!? You sit on mismatched lawn chairs, and if I remember correctly, there's even a car inside that place...
