My Way or the Highway!

If you've been dreaming up wedding plans since you were a kid (no shame), there must be some things that you absolutely must have on your day!

Smiley ring What aspects of your wedding are you considering non-negotiable, not up for discussion, and not willing to compromise on?

Is it your attire? Including your dog/cat/goldfish/horse/ferret? Your venue? Your officiant? Colors? Flowers? Shoes?

Haven't been planning since childhood, but a non-negotiable is the open bar. The expense is worth the party to me. Oh and my killer dress! Went over budget due to alterations but, I Love it!!

    The food!

FH and I knew who we wanted to cater before we even made any other decisions or had a venue! FMIL tried to get us to book her friend who runs a catering company and was much cheaper but we were not budging on who we wanted to cater!

(Also, guest list, we had a number we would not go over.)

I've been dreaming of a wedding since 7th grade, but of course my dress ideas, venue ideas, and much more have changed. At this point in the game, my photographers are non negotiable. I love them to death and you'd have to kill me before i would want to work with anyone else!

Good for you on the guest list! A lot of people go over to avoid hurting feelings, but sometimes it needs to be done! Smiley star What kind of caterer did you go with?

We booked the best Southern BBQ caterer/restaurant in town. Their restaurant is a staple if you visit our town (St. Augustine, FL) and they also cater events with a full staff! I can't wait! We are having tons of smoked meats, a pit master to carve it all at the venue, loads of sides including jalapeno corn bread and smoked yellow corn, loaded mashed potatoes, bacon wrapped asparagus, fried green tomatoes, the works. (Also some vegan options!) I cannot wait, the servers will all be there and it's going to be delicious. I don't think people will expect it, and all of my PA family will get a local taste of the town!

The best part is if they love the food or want to try more they can always go to the restaurant before they head out of town!

My whole wedding 😂 we purposefully had a long engagement so we can have the wedding of our dreams. Both sides of the family have been extremely easy going so that has certainly helped, also I dont really share my ideas with anyone other than my fiance so that keeps people from complaining. We are planning the wedding we want because life is to short to make everyone happy all the time

    Colors, Colors, Colors
Colors of the flowers, colors of my dress, colors of our wedding theme, colors of what my Fiance wears. Colors
I have always wanted flowers that make zero sense, like wildflowers that don't match or go together, that look like you just picked them on the side of the highway.

I have NEVER wanted to wear a white dress. While the color I wanted has changed throughout my life, I knew I didn't want white.
I don't like traditional suites where you are wearing a white shirt or whatever... it just feels stuffy to me. So he is wearing all black. I think it is classic and sexy.
Our wedding colors are grey, white and black. I am NOT a fan of feminine colors at all so we want with simple and classic.

The colors of everything are the only thing that I have actually argued with people about. LOL

I dont have any non neogitables. It's his wedding too and I love his ideas and compromising on what we both want.

My dress though, I saw it online and that was it. I waited two months to try it on. I did try on others but I knew that was my dress and I would buy it again and again.

Actually I take it back....in the very beginning of wedding planning, we wanted to elope. As he says I broke him down and talked him into it but then when he said ok he called my bluff and I said I wanted that wedding. All our friends and family, the white dress, the music. After that moment eloping was a non neogitable it wasent happening

I think the main things that have been negotiable is the atmosphere that we want to create and the overall design look. We want it to be a relaxed and fun atmosphere but want it to look crisp, industrial and modern.

I have not been planning my wedding since I was a kid. There has not been any specific thing I would not compromise on but I did always push back to have the same "feel" of wedding I had grown up going to. The fun family party (aka electric slide not cocktails) is all I really want

Top is white lace (Italian tradition to wear lace so I had to have it somehow), and the bottom tulle is layers of black and navy blue. So it will appear black and in some light and movement you can see the blue pop through. Currently being made so I sure hope it comes out okay... Fingers crossed!

My only non-negotiable was the month. It HAD to be October for me- he tried hard for July but it was a hard no from me lol. The weather, the foliage, I'm a Halloween freak, pumpkin everything...there wasn't another month that would have made me nearly as happy and he knew it, so he caved.

My only non-negotiable were my dress (the specific one - my Grandma's) and a church wedding with full mass. My fiancee didnt care either way about having mass or not as long as she could still wear a suit and we both agreed that amazing food was a non-negotiable - a multicourse tasting menu and Swiss rolls for cake instead of traditional because they have a much greater frosting to cake ratio and that is our favorite part. My dress dictated winter (because lots of heavy satin and long sleeves and she loves winter anyway (Girl Scout name is Snowy - like a snow leopard or snowy owl - 2 favorites).
