Jamie, on October 8, 2012 at 4:17 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Has anyone heard from florists that flowers are 30% higher because it is Mother's Day weekend and the whole country needs flowers? They said this happens Valentines, Mother's Day and Father's Day. if so what are you Mid May brides doing about it?

I actually have heard of this which I find wrong even through flower are in high demand for the weekend. I haven't had a problem since my date is at the end of May...Good luck.

I'm getting married on Father's Day next year. I'm getting my flowers from Whole Foods and they do not change their prices based upon holidays so I'm good to go thankfully. (And I saved more than 50% going that route). I have heard that Mother's Day and Valentine's Day cause flower prices to go up significantly two days before and two days after the actual holiday though.

Ugh great. I have my florist appt on Saturday. I hadn't heard that, but it does make sense. I really hope that's not the case.

I am already doing DIY centerpieces to try to save on flower costs, so maybe that's an option for you?

I know that when I was still catering and buying from wholesalers, everything went up that weekend.

We are getting married on mother's day. We didn't mean to, but we are getting our flowers in bulk from an organic flower farm, so hopefully we will be fine.
