I was going to post up a list of things I needed/wanted to get done before the wedding since Ih ave to do my make up for early in the morning.
One of the things- for anyone DIYing make up for any event- is to make sure your brushes are clean.
You should be washing them regularly- Dove soap is adequate- you don't need special "brush" soap.
But- I have it on my list of things to do the weekend before- is to wash all my brushes the Saturday or Sunday before the wedding so I'm all nice and clean and ready to go!!!
I'm going off the grid the Friday before the wedding. I will be getting my nails, toes and eyebrows done before checking into the hotel. I plan to clean my brushes once I check in.
Do you prefer a brush, fingers, beauty blender or some other method to put on your foundation?
Ms Dani- I wouldn't wait till the night before to wash them- I know my face brushes don't dry out in a day- my eye brushes will (24 hrs) but not my foundation/contour/blush/cheek brushes. Which is why I wanted to do mine the week before- also- one less thing to stress about the day before.
Devon- I love WNW- grabbed a brow gel from somewhere - It's clear- I was unimpressed- I'll have to try their brow products.
I guess I"m just not that big of a brow person? Like- I don't get what ABH has to offer in a brow pencil- it's just a pencil. I feel like that's one thing I can't get behind. I guess I should go try it first before I really pass judgement. LOL
I do have WNW color Icon blush in Rose Champagne- girl- that blush is LIFE- it's so subtle- I think it's brilliant for daily wear. makes me SO HAPPY.
Sarah- Absolutely- we haven't done one in like - oh 2 weeks- so I'm bored at work- thought we could start one up.
@Can'tW8toMarryHim- not legally- meaning- I'm not a licensed anesthetic in the state of New Jeresy.
But- I am a make up artist because- I *do* make up. LOL- I'm a professional bellydancer and I spend a boat load of time playing with make up and doing a lot of product trial and error.
I am certainly NOT the be all end all of make up advice- but I do spend an absurd amount of time doing make up
Devon- Thanks- it's the Urban Decay naked smoky- I figured I'd pull it out and play with their tutorial (the little print out- gives you 4 looks) I feel like the above eye blend could have been better- but meh- I always fail at their tutorials- so I was pleased with the result!
Also if anyone is looking for a really good drugstore primer, I just found NYX Photo Loving Primer. Works just as well as most 20-30 dollar primers I've tried.
And I love that smoky eye @Jo

I love the smokey eye!
My eyebrows are thick and very dark to begin with and I'm always hesitant with any pencil/mascara/kits having to do with my brows. Typically the product is far too light and it's noticeable. I wonder if it's even worth trying to use anything.
I'm currently obsessed with Smashbox CC cream, mascara, and Sephora's lip stains. I just bought Marvelous Mauve for my wedding day lips! I'm also a huge fan of Becca's champagne pop highlighter.
Here's my question- my urban decay palette is finally running low after 3 years... what palette would you suggest?

I have more makeup than anyone I know. All bare minerals.
Buttttt I'm just starting to get into lipsticks. I think I'm finding I like matte better than a shine, doesn't stick out as much. Not real comfortable in lip stick yet.
How do you find a good lip stick? Is lip liner necessary? What do I do with it? Ha
I'm a minimalist In the summer. Mascara only.
Also, all this time (all of 5 months I've been here) I've wondered @jo what you meant when you said you had dance. Now I know. So cool

Jo, what's your favorite highlight/contouring tutorial? I subscribe to Julep and they sent me a mini kit as a bonus but I've never done it before. Looks way too intimidating!
@Felicia- my biggest "tip" is to do some research (doesn't have to be crazy- 1 or 2 simple tutorials) on youtube- and then practice. A lot. I frequently buy new make up- and sit down on a Friday night in front of the TV and just play with them while I have a glass of wine and watch my favorite show.
You have to figure out how your tolls work and what your product feels like. And the best way to do that is in a low stress environment well ahead of any event you have to attend. The biggest secret is practice.
I can recommend a few youtubers who put out great tutorials
The first I would recommend:
Kathleen Lights
PixieWoo
Wayne Goss
They are approachable and less about being "youtube personalities" so very make up focused- and less chit chat.
Following that-
Emma Pickles
Jacklyn Hill
Manny MUA
Tati
So- you can just look up "easy day eye make up" 5 minute face tutorial"
"Daily looks"
Anything you think is relevant to what you want to try-
Pixie Woo is great because you can actually look by famous person if you saw a person who you loved- they have alphabetical channels of celebrities. WINNING

Jo- You're fair/luminescent like me. Do you have suggestions on a good red? I have some I like, but they're all really bright. I'm looking for a good deep red that isn't like shiny cherries. Maybe like these?
"Also if anyone is looking for a really good drugstore primer, I just found NYX Photo Loving Primer. Works just as well as most 20-30 dollar primers I've tried. "
I love NYX- they are one of my favorite brands. Kathleen Lights swears by their Angel Primer- I can't bring myself to spend 15$ on NYX product- but I really want to try it.

I still can't perfect my eyeshadow. It ends up looking like a blurry mess. I've been practicing for 6 years I don't think ill ever be able to do more than the sweep of glitter I put on my lid. I am also scared of anything not nude or goldish. So I'm following this out of jealousy.
Can somebody talk to me about primer? When does it go on? (I assume it's moisturizer first, then primer?)
I've tried a ton of primers (I literally have 5 or 6 in my bathroom right now) and I feel like it's great for keeping eyeshadow from creasing, but it makes my foundation sort of just sit on top of my skin in a really gross way. Maybe it's just because it's so hot right now and my foundation wants to melt off my face?
