Lets talk about some CAKE

We had our consult today for our cake. The lady we went to is HILARIOUS, and talked A LOT. She is soo sweet though, and she never charges for the first consult. We tried a lime margarita, White chocolate raspberry Gnash(sp?), Chocolate overload, double chocolate, coconut pineapple, and red velvet. Let me tell you something, cake testing is a total fat kids dream, and although I am not too fat, I have the mind of a fat kid. We decided to go with lime margarita cupcakes, White chocolate raspberry cupcakes, and chocolate overload cupcakes. Our two tiered cake is going to be traditional white cake with strawberry filling. What are you ladies doing for you cakes? Flavors and pics!

    LOL- the pic is a bit funny, but this is the idea for the cake. I was bored, printed this out for our cake-lady and she's going to work. All white cake (my son and FMIL have allergies like you wouldn't believe)

    @Tiffany-Allergies have got to suck...I love it when my taste buds go crazy, hence all the different flavors. lol.

    Yum, those sound great! are you doing a cupcake tree or just have them at the bottom? We are going a lemon cake with fresh raspberries and lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream frosting. Cake like the one shown except real flowers instead of icing flowers.

    We had chocolate cupcake with espresso filling. Yellow cupcakes with an apple pie filling. New York style cup-cheesecakes and Turtle cup-cheesecakes. Our top tier is a lemon cake with raspberry filling.

    If you need a cupcake tree, I ordered ours from www.cupcaketree.com and painted it and made the floral decorations myself.

    We haven't been taste testing yet, we have a consultation in June - but I tried samples at a Bridal Expo & I just LOVE the white cake w/Strawberry Cream Cheese filling...A-Mazing!!

    I just got a new MacBook so I dont have any of my wedding pics stored on this computer, I'll post again with my old laptop to show you what we're thinking about Cake wise!

    I don't have any pics yet, my friend is baking our cake. But we have done tastings and absolutely delicious!

    Layers are going to go between strawberries and cream and chocolate raspberry. We are soon deciding on the grooms cake!

    Yummy! I love the cakes ladies! I don't get a tasting Smiley sad I have a list of flavors to choose from and we aren't set on that yet. Prob vanilla or almond cake with raspberry or strawberry filling with white choc gnash. The bakery gets great reviews and my planner uses them for all her weddings so I'm not really worried. Ours will be a small, two tier round cake similar to the pic with butter cream frosting instead of fondant. We will have them use bright pink roses and green orchids so it matches our bouquets.

    We had french vanilla (white) cake with fresh strawberries and champagne filling! YUMMMMM! It was so good and everyone loved it! We just took the top layer out of the freezer for our anniversary and it was still good even after a year! ha ha!

    We have a 4 tier with 3 different flavors.

    4th tier (bottom)-White cake, with raspberry preserves, and a raspberry mouse filling

    1st & 3rd tier-Chocolate cake, with chocolate ganche, and chocolate mouse filling

    2nd tier-White cake, with a strawberry preserve, boston cream filling, and fresh fruit to top that layer off.

    The 1st & 3rd tier will have the design.

    Our cake will be pretty similiar to this picture but instead of the calla lillies we will have sugar leaves.

    Also in additon to the orange and brown we will have some deep reds.

    @Gemma, I was thinking about just getting some different level cake stands, so the cake would be surrounded by the cupcakes. Something kind of like the picture I am attaching. And your cake is fabulous!

    We just had our tasting last weekend. We are having a 4 tier cake with 2 tiers spice cake with cream cheese filling, and 2 tiers french vanilla with basic vanilla frosting. Our cake should look something like this, without the bottom tier and without the mini pumpkins.

    NotFroofy made our cake, a cascading cake with four layers. The bottom one was dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla butter cream icing. The second was lemon cake with raspberry mousse filling and lemon butter cream icing. The third was sour cream spice cake with pecans and sour cream frosting. The top layer was the traditional British fruit cake with marzipan and royal icing, which we saved for our anniversary. The cake topper (actually on the bottom layer) was a traditional Welsh love spoon.

    She ran out of time, and didn't get to do as much decorating as she planned. However, we are still getting comments about how delicious it tasted.

    We aren't sure exactly what flavors we're doing but we both would love to do an orange cream, maybe an apple and one other flavor cupcakes... heres our inspiration pic, Im thinking maybe red velvet might work, trying to tie our colors into the flavors as well!

    @2nd Wow! That sounds sooo good. And they look good too. Those flavors sound really good.

    @Sara, That is super cute, and red velvet is always good. Orange cream sounds great too. I bet it will taste amazing
