Less than a month to go- and still no rings.. starting to freak out

Jacklyn, on July 24, 2015 at 9:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

FH and I have been crazy busy with work, moving and wedding planning. We kept saying we would go ring shopping next weekend... or tomorrow... ect... NEVER HAPPENED. We were going to go today after work- but just found out the store closes at 5:39 (first that is such a weird closing time- who came up with that?!?!).

How long did it take for you to get your rings- from the time you picked them out until you picked them up? Do any of the NYC/ Philly/ Jersey girls have any recommendations for jewelers?

Got our wedding bands at Bario-Neal and it took just under a month. However, we did not have any custom work or engraving done.

You can order online - Amazon or Etsy!

We ordered from a local jewelry store, and while they only took a couple weeks to come in, they said it COULD have taken months.

If worse comes to worse, and you don't get wedding rings in time, don't worry -- you'll still be married.

I've had couples forget 1 or both rings or just plan to not have any rings. If there are no rings, we just skip that part of the ceremony. If there is only 1 ring, one person says, "I give you this ring..." and the other says, "I accept this ring..."

You can get married, if you have to, with cheap ass bands and then replace them. I've had dozens of couples forget them completely, so no stress.

I ordered on Amazon, and it got here in a week. But depending on the type of ring you want you might be able to just buy it from the jeweler and take it home that day.

We also got online from BlueNile-- as long as you know your size, you should get them pretty quickly without having any issue.

My guess is that the jewelry store is owned by an observant Jewish person (explaining the odd closing time on Friday), and if that's the case, chances are it will also be closed tomorrow.

This almost happened to us. We were told they would take about six weeks, we ordered them last Friday, FH came in yesterday. We're still waiting on mine.

We lucked out. My ring size is exactly what they carry most their rings in...6.75, so I walked out wearing able to wear both the ering and bands. FH's is loose but just able to fit over his knuckle.

Like Celia said, you can always fake it....

FH and I bought mine online after shopping in stores and it came within a couple days, unfortunately it's the wrong size, but it's here. Don't freak out. Either buy it in store or online and if you want engravings, do them after the wedding. Just make sure you get properly sized.

My FH and I are also very busy -- he works from 10-6, and then plays in sports leagues 3 nights a week. I'm a teacher and during the school year, I am work until 4:30 or 5 and then spend the evenings grading. Our weekends are always packed with social events and obligations. SO, we ended up going shopping for our rings separately! We looked online together in the evenings to pick out what we each liked and then I went and picked out my own ring, and he picked out his own ring.

We ordered both of ours from Blue Nile. We are frequent customers so we got free expedited shipping, but even with regular shipping you would get it in a couple days.

We got our rings at Zales, you pay a little extra but they have a lifetime warranty. I left with my rings since they were my size, FH's needed to be ordered, they said it should be ready for pick up in about a week.

We ended up getting married in 3 days after we found out that my dad was sick. We found out Wednesday and had the rings in our hands at 2pm the next day. They aren't what I would have picked out but they serve the purpose and were affordable.

Honestly, I don't get the 'we're too busy" thing. This is your wedding....isn't it important? More important than playing soccer or almost anything else (except a suddenly sick relative)?

We moved to a bigger apartment a couple of months ago- moving from NYC (Queens) to central Jersey. Our wedding is in Philly and we are constantly going back to Philly for different wedding appointments. FH's family lives 4 hours away from us, and we have had to go up there for a couple of events including my bridal shower. All of this is taking away from the amount of non- work time that we have. I commute over an hour to and from work everyday- making it almost impossible to get anything done, and FH travels so much for work that having any appointments during the week is impossible. All of our vacation time is going to the wedding/ honeymoon, so we cannot take time off to go ring shopping either. This is a wedding task that had to be put off in order to complete other wedding tasks. Yes our wedding is important, but so are our jobs- since we are going to need to keep them after the wedding is over.

I'm not sure what you are look for, but check out Bucci's Jewelry and Design in Conshohocken, PA. Joe does a lot of custom work, but also has a showroom full of jewelry.

Just go to one of the mall stores. They have a ton of different options for price and style and are open late. You aren't far from KOP, we got ours at Helzburg and got them back within a week.

@reneecool - My husband got my engagement ring at buccis Smiley smile LOVE IT!

I went to a local jeweler and it took 2-3 weeks to get FH's ring in. My e- ring took over 2 months to get in (had some customization to it)
