KWR - Regarding skincare, what issues have you had and what have you used that really works?

Jennifer, on January 31, 2012 at 3:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

So I'm putting this out there because I think all of us want to have the best skin possible for our wedding day. I think it would be nice if we could all share what problems you have had for anything related to skincare (wrinkles, brown spots, acne etc...) and then what does and doesn't work for you. My problem is acne that I can't get to go away, so any advice on that I would personally appreciate. I tried Proactive about 10 years ago (as a teen) and that didn't work although I've heard they improved their formula. Through dermatologists, I've tried Aczone for 2 months with no acne relief. Over the counter I've tried clearasil and neutrogena products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Murad sulfur doesn't appear to help either. I can say that I give Retinol postive reviews, I've been using products with that for years and at 32, not a single wrinkle. So, let the advice/discussion begin!

I have had trouble skin my whole life..it's finally starting to calm down...ugh!!! But I have combination skin and I got this home-remedy from ym FMIL when FH and I were just dating.. apple-cider vinegar.. I just keep it in the shower with me and put on a wash cloth and gently put it on my skin.. watch your eyes for sure!! It wasnt a miracle but def def helps sooo much! I hope, if you try it, that it works for you as well!

I never would have thought about using apple cider vinegar, but I'm willing to give it a try. I'll let you know if it works when I get a chance to buy some.

I have random breakouts for the most part when I'm stressed out. Not much can be done about them. If I relax and stop stressing the breakout clears on its own. I did use to get breakouts on my back, but that was due to the conditioner I was using. Some conditioners clog pores and can cause breakouts. I found that if I wash and condition my hair separate from my actual shower I break out less.

They say its great just to have a spoon-full a day! But havent done that so I don't know haha-yes, please let me know!! It's like $1 at Walmart for the smaller bottle to try.. get a plastic bottle in case it falls in your shower. My FMIL puts hers in a spray bottle haha.. I'd be worried it would get in my eyes that way tho!

For acne the only thing that completely cleared my skin was BCP. Now I just use a gentle cleanser in the morning and sunscreen. At night a DHC cleansing oil and I use retin A every other night.

Before going on BCP I felt DHC products did the best at mostly keeping my skin clear, never perfect though.

Carrie W., I'm, assuming that BCP stands for birth control? Unfortunately my acne isn't affected by my cycle or any type of BCP that I have ever tried. Infact, I'm on Seasonique right now (one cycle every 3 months - love it) and my acne is still every day. What do you mean by DHC?

I use and love Clinique's 3 step system, I only get break outs when I am stressed which was definately the case before the wedding, but this stuff worked miracles.

I have acne and acne scars, but since I started BCP, it has cleared up! Now I break out a little before my cycle and when I'm super stressed. I use Purpose facial cleanser because it is very gentle and I use Biore Pore unclogging scrub every other day.

I started using Arbonne at the end of Dec. my face is SO soft and I have never seen my pours so small. I had really nasty blackheads on my nose (people thought I had freckles... ah no, blackheads gross) and they are almost totally gone. It is a lot more than I thought I would ever spend on face stuff, but boy - it sure seems worth it now.

My mom has always had trouble skin and she used arbonne a few times and really loved it. She is thinking of switching too, but like I said, it is a little pricey.

Vitamin E moisturizer! Its kind of like oil but if you rub it in really well at night, your skin is soooo soft in the morning and after a few days, you are totally cleared up! It's in the vitamin aisle at wal-mart. It's the best thing I've ever done for my skin! =) Oh, that's for acne, btw.
