Key West Wedding... popular spot for weddings in Sept?

Michelle , on January 4, 2012 at 5:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I have changed my wedding destination from NJ where I live to our favorite vacationing spot on Smather's Beach in Key West. Our date is Sept 8 but I figured because it's technically off-season, and hurricane season to boot that we wouldn't have an issue with other people crowding the beach spot we want for the ceremony. Am I wrong? Any suggestions?

    Hi Michelle!

September is a great time to come to Key West! It is certainly WARM ...so i'm sure there will be folks on the Beach ... but not typically an issue later in the day - around Sunset when most choose to get married on the Beach! ... Also Smathers is quite a long strip of beach - so there are beautiful spots a bit further from the 'busy' beach and consession areas that are ideal for your wedding ceremony!

Feel free to reach out to us if you need some assistance with your Wedding Plans!

    Cheers!

I'm getting married in Key West next month! yayyy for key west weddings!

There are just about a million different locations you can choose from down there. They've literally got everything...you can get married in a church, the beach, a gorgeous sailboat - you name it, they can make it happen. I highly recommend you go visit during a long weekend to meet vendors and get to know the area really well. That really helps a LOT in the long run.

Thank you soo much to the both of you! I am such a strange bride I feel, because I am not anxious when it comes to controling every bit of the planning. My fiance is really doing a lot of the researching and booking of flights and hotel, and excursions. I feel like perhaps I am putting things off too much! I don't know where to begin, and I just needed reassurance that I won't get there and there be no place to get married!!

Assuming you want to marry sometime near sunset...the beach tends to thin out since people leave to get ready for dinner. If not using the beach, there are many wonderful locations...I can assure you...you will find a place to marry.
