I got side eye today.

So I work with one of my best friends/BM. My sister (and MOH) recently sent out the invites for my bachelorette party and her and I were discussing it because my sister is insane (in a great way) and putting so much (unnecessary) effort into this.... for real, I will just be happy to see her in person.

BUT... a co-worker overheard and threw some mad shade my way because my bachelorette party is at the end of August, my shower is in October and our wedding is in January.

I attempted to explain that; the bachelorette party is at the end of August because it is the 1 weekend off from grad school that I have, my sister lives 3000 miles away, owns her own business and August is a slow month for her so she is able to make the trip..and it just seemed nicer to do it with nice weather and not snow.

Same with the shower, the girls picked that day to make sure it didn't overlap with major holidays.

But for real...I get that the general order of things is wonky…but it’s what worked out best for everyone and I didn’t plan it.

Is it really that big of a deal?

I wouldn't think anything of it. Plus, since when is it her business? Rude.

Your coworker should mind her own business...

I would have just said, "Why do you care? You aren't invite."

Everyone feels entitled to weigh in on weddings. It is sooo very tiresome. Laugh it off now or you'll go bonkers.

She can shove off. I wish more people spaced their events out. Travelling a lot in a small amount of time can be a burden.

Pssht, she is clearly just jealous that she isn't included! You know deep down everyone wants to be involved in Bachelorette shenanigans. You should bring her a phallic shaped party favor afterwards to really get a reaction out of her!

I didn't know there was a specific timing for these kinds of things. I don't know when my shower/bachelorette will be or if I'm even having one, but if so, it'll be whenever my FSILs and I are available.

Who does she think she is giving you the "side-eye"? Tell her to come to WW.

I work with a lot of people (mostly ladies...social worker hazard) who like to have their opinions out there.. I don't normally discuss wedding stuffs here for that reason, learned my lesson today..close the office door -___-

But it made me all worried that it was somehow a big deal so I wanted to run it by you all Smiley smile

No way. You guys have to do what is best for the group. As long as the BM's agreed, who cares! Its not your coworker's wedding/wedding events....

My shower is Aug, bachelorette is Sept, and wedding Oct. I wouldn't say wonky, but myself and most of my BM's are out of state. I wanted to spread them out a bit. We actually had dates set awhile ago. I work weekends alot at my job(s), so planning way ahead is necessary for me.

Is there a rule when you have to have your bachelorette and shower? I'm doing mine when its convenient for everyone invited.

You're engaged. You're having a bachelorette party before you get married. When you're having it doesn't matter. And it REALLY shouldn't matter to a random coworker who isn't invited. Rude.

I just had my bachelorette party this past Saturday, my side and our friend's shower is on July 12th and FH's side is on August 9th. (we are having two because they are in two different states and people would not be able to travel if we had one combined.) So clearly, I don't care. We did it early because I sat down with my 3 bridesmaids and MOH and there were only 2 dates that we all were free between May and October.

Ugh. Who cares? People are busy. Do it when it's convenient, not on some made-up schedule.
