How much are you paying for hair/make-up?

caaron3, on June 18, 2013 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

I know it depends on the area to some degree, but I'm having trouble justifying the prices I'm finding around here (metro Atlanta). The company my coordinator is highly recommending is $400 for hair/make-up for me and $170 for hair/make-up for the bridesmaids or $95 for hair only.

Am I just being cheap? I can't imagine paying that much for hair/make-up...

Hair is free since my hair stylist has been cutting my hair since my first hair cut but makeup will be $75 for a trial and $125 for the day of. An additional $20 for fake lashes.

My BMs are going to pay $95 for hair and $75 for makeup.

Free for me I will be doing my own makeup and my friend is doing my hair. I had gotten a quote from someone who is a hair and make up artist for 85 bucks which is a great deal and she is good. Ask around you may come across someone who can do it for way cheaper.

Yeah I think I may need to get creative. My normal stylist will do my trial and day of hair for $100 but I'd still need to find make-up for me (because I'm terrible at it) and then hair for the girls. I'm going to try to contact some local salons next.

That is a competitive rate for a sought after MUA in large / larger cities...

mine was $350 just for me, and i cant remember exactly what i paid for my mom... but sounds about like the additional amount you were quoted.

It depends on the styist and the going rate for your area. They will charge for a trial run and for the day of your wedding and additional costs for travel.

It sounds about right. My person is on the cheap side for hair and will be $75 for bridesmaids. They aren't getting their makeup done.

I'm not paying anything because I know a TON of people from beauty school. Honestly that is the cheapest way to do it. The school I went to charged 100 for hair and makeup plus you got a trial. And they placed you with someone who was about to graduate so you actually got someone who knew what they were doing.

Mine is $400 but includes my trial and airbrush. For my BP it's only $80 for both hair and makeup.

I am paying zero for hair, and were DIYing our makeup because two of us (my MOH and I) are makeup artists. Our hair is being done by a friend as a wedding gift!

I'm willing to pay $150 for my makeup... but the place that did my trial seriously pissed me off so now I need to find someone else Smiley sad

Basically the quoted me at $115 and I went through a trial... told me originally .65 per mile for travel then tacked on a $40 minimum in the contract... I was ok.... then told me that they only travel to you on a minimum of $300 and that if I was the only one getting makeup in my party it would cost me $175 not $115

Are you kidding me?!? Get the contract before you get the trial! That was $80 wasted... and they did a beautiful job too... it's a shame.

And I can't even review them here because I'm not going with them as a vendor- I was this close *pinches fingers* to signing with them. For $150 I would have done it.

Make up is free. Photographer is a make up artist as well and has her assistant. My Bms are paying for their own make up. My Photographer is also sister of my high school classmate

Hair for all 5 of us 180.00 But my friend is paying for it. So I am not spending any of my money on hair or makeup. Yaay!!

I'm in San Diego, CA and I'll be paying $170 for hair and airbrush makeup w/false lashes. If the girls or moms want their hair done, it'll be $45-60 depending on what they want done and how much hair they have...

If you don't need to have it on-site, have you tried local beauty schools? Also, Sephora will do full face makeup with appointments with a $50 purchase per person.
