We told people via phone and text but a few months later (when we booked the venue) I posted this on fb.

We told everyone who was close in person or on the phone. The night we got engaged he had set up a night out with all our closest friends, so they were told at dinner.

Then a facebook post went up later that week.

We told family and friends then we both posted a photo at the same time on Facebook/Instagram.

I facetimed my parents first to let them know, my dad went and texted the rest of the family (lol), and I sent pictures to my closest friends. Once I let the VIPs know, I tried to make FH tell his family and friends and he said "eh, they'll know soon enough."

Then I posted two pictures on Instagram, one of us kissing under a gazebo at my college (legend is if you share a kiss you're bonded for life) and the second was from our recent trip to Cancun where a lady claimed a picture she took was our first engagement picture.

We got engaged in Feb. of this year and still nothing on FB, we prefer to keep our private lives off the internet. We video chatted with our VIP's right after he proposed (he did it privately at our favorite winery), we told my son & mother the next day at dinner, and then the rest was just word of mouth.

FH planned a surprise brunch for immediately after the proposal so all of the important people who live near us were there. My parents, closest friends, siblings and a couple of aunts and uncles.

My grandmother couldnt be there so we went and told her in person. All close family from out of state we called within the next day or so to tell them. Friends not present we called or texted.

Anyone we werent close to saw it when we posted it on facebook

FH asked my parents for their blessing beforehand, so they already knew when it would be happening. We called our families after he proposed, then called our best friends, then posted a picture of it to social media. FH hired a photographer to shoot the proposal and we asked him to take one on our phones for social media.

We didn't really. We called our friends and family immediately. FH doesn't have Facebook, and I felt weird about posting it. We mostly tell people individually in person, or people spread the word. I am getting married next Saturday and a lot of peripheral friends that aren't invited had/have no idea. It's not a secret, but it also felt pretty personal/private to us.

My family was with us because he proposed on a family cruise. We told his family through phone calls and visits and announced to everybody else through social media with a flipagram video.

Both of our sets of parents knew it was happening, and mine were there to celebrate with us after the proposal. The grandparents and other close family members got a phone call. Close friends and other family members got a text. We announced it at church the next day (got engaged on a Saturday). Then, I had a choir concert that Sunday afternoon, and so I kept the secret until I showed up at our call time for the concert and told all my college friends. We had purposefully been keeping our relationship very private, and had not been putting anything on social media about it, so many people didn't even realize how far along we were in the relationship. A couple of my friends cried they were so surprised and excited. That was definitely the most fun part, seeing everyone's reactions. We made it "Facebook official" a week later, after all of our local friends had been told in person or on the phone.

We called friends and family right away - but as far as "making it public" we only just switched our relationship status from "in a relationship to engaged." I wanted to keep it low key on social media.

I saw this thread title and thought it was about launching an IPO. I was going to be like, "usually companies file an S-1 with the SEC..."

My FH proposed to me in front of all our family and friends at our house warming party, so it was really easy to let everyone know. Everyone that was there knew it was going to happen but me! lol

But the after the party was over and everyone left we posted it on social media.

We told close family (parents/siblings) and our best friends on the phone that night or the next day - we told our parents to spread the word around the rest of the family. Once we were sure most people already knew, I made a post on facebook.

My husband proposed at Disneyland in front of his mom, dad and sister... and the rest of his family knew it was happening. After the proposal I called or texted all my VIPs. He decided to post on fb, "For some reason my girlfriend keeps sending pictures of her left hand to people." At first no one understood, mostly guy friends responded first... but then the girls were like "omg are you engaged? "... that is when I made one of the 3 wedding/engagement posts I made during our 22 month engagement with a picture of my left hand the announcement.

We told all our VIPS via text/FB message (while we were on the cruise - when he proposed, couldn't call since we were in the middle of the ocean). When we got back to the states I posted on FB with the pictures the photographer took of the engagement that said "Officially home from vacation and can say that I left with a boyfriend but came home with a Fiance!"

My FH posted a picture to Facebook before I even got to tell anyone. My parents knew because he'd called them and his parents were there when it happened it was just friends that found out that way.

We got engaged at a wrestling event right before intermission. So it went on twitter and facebook shortly after that. Due to the unintentional public announcement, we quickly called immediate family during the intermission and visited my grandparents the next day. We posted it that night so that any of our friends on facebook heard it through our post instead of the wrestling company or fans.
