We told close friends and family first and then eventually posted this photo on Facebook. The really funny thing is that to this day a bunch of people think we got engaged at the state fair--including one friend we had told over a month earlier!! We just love the fair and thought it would make for a good photo.

We called, video chatted, and visited VIPs initially. We announced via social media close to Christmas so everything had a mild Christmas-y feel. On Snapchat I tucked my ring into our Christmas tree (which is on a slow turning pedestal) and the tree turned while the song "Santa Baby" at the part where she says "forgot to mention one little thing, a ring. I don't mean on the phone."

We also took a picture of the ring on the Christmas tree, and pictures of us throughout the years and posted that on IG, Twitter, and FB at the same time. It was so fun to surprise all of our friends!

We never have all of our family and friend together so social media is so huge to us. We answered a lot of Facetime and Skype calls that night!

ETA: Correction on my announcement. Apparently, my memory sucks!

We told all of our close family ahead of time in person so that they wouldn't find out through Facebook. Then I posted pictures from the proposal (with the one in my icon on top) with the caption "Needless to say, I said yes" to Instagram and Facebook to let our friends and the rest of our family know.

We were engaged for over a month before we 'announced it'. I had told a lot of my family but hadn't called all of my aunts and uncles. When my best friend got the chocolates I sent her asking her to be my Matron of Honor she wanted to post it on Facebook. So I finally made my last few phone calls and then updated my status on Facebook to engaged. We really didn't make a fuss about it.

@Marcella us too! It's about to be a month and we're doing all this planning we've decided it's probably a good idea to announce this since my parents have booked the engagement party to be on Dec 9th lol. I'd love to see how you asked your BM though Smiley smile

@Enchanted that would be something my FH family would do, in the same order lol!

@stpaulgal aww I love the fair too and coincidentally mine is in town till the end of the month. Love your ring!!!

@MrsBdeg I love the ring on the ornament!!! I'm planning on dropping the bomb on everyone over SM too since similar to you 50% of our guest's are not in town! FH lives in another state!

    I actually send her these

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/239832384/will-you-be-my-matron-of-honor-chocolate

in her favorite color and flavor. She said they tasted great and she had to hide them from her husband because he thought so too. lol

I made a bigger fuss out of that than anything else. Smiley xd

We told our close friends and family in person while we waited for the E ring to get in that we ordered together. This includes telling my moms whole side at a family get together in which my grandma cried of happiness and then when it came in and he asked officially we took a pic and posted it on Facebook to share with our friends!

We called/FaceTimed family (I insisted we FaceTime my parents before texting any friends or extended family pictures - I didn't want them to find out from someone else) then I spent the drive home from the proposal site texting pictures or calling friends. Little did I know, most of them already knew the proposal was happening because FH had arranged a surprise engagement cookout for us with all of them. It was an awesome way to celebrate all of the excitement and I was shocked to see how far some of my friends/family had traveled to be there with us!

We called our VIP's. Never bothered putting it on facebook. I just don't want to deal with the drama of telling people they aren't invited.

We texted/called all of our close friends and family first. Then after we'd contacted everyone we just changed our status on Facebook-no big post or anything. Of course at that point most of our aquatiances also knew because we showed up to church on Christmas Eve and people saw the ring so it hit what FH calls the GGN- Greek Gossip Network.

He had arranged for my parents to be there, waiting after with champagne, so they found out in person a few minutes later. We then called his mom (who knew it was happening, but lives across the country). I texted a few VIPs right away....my godmother, my cousin and her husband that were who we met through, my brother. Called my grandmother. Then I sent an email to my dad's side of the family and another to my mom's side of the family, all the night he proposed. The next morning we went to my best friend's house and told her in person. Then I texted other close friends. Later that day (day after the proposal) we put it on Facebook

Don't make a big deal out of it on Facebook, or everyone else will expect an invite. Keep it low key.

We called our family's right after he proposed. Later we went to one of the best breweries and FH posted this on Facebook captioned "Beers and Bling".

@DC, I also posted on my birthday, but FH had proposed that same weekend.

We called our parents, siblings, and grandparents first. Then I made a birthday/engagement/bought-a-new-house post on facebook. All of which happened the same weekend. It was a hella exciting weekend.

Actually it's funny because we weren't the ones to make the announcement. My sister and FSIL each asked us for permission to post cute pics that they took to Facebook and when we said ok, they both posted cute proposal pics and dinner pics (the immediate families were hiding during the proposal and got pics of the whole thing then we all went to dinner together). This happened the next day but we had called everyone at dinner already so it was fine.
