Have any of you.........

Altered the neckline of your dress? I really love my dress but I have my heart set on a sweetheart neckline and mine is straight. Just wonder if anyone had their neckline altered and how much went into it and did cost a lot.

When i was looking at dresses and like the sweetheart neck line they told me the seamstress could tack down the top and make it a sweetheart neckline... no idea how much it would cost though...

Alterations like that are expensive...got my dress at Davids Bridal and did alterations there also.

My alterations cost 267.00 for 14 bustle hoops and the hem taken up 3 inches.

If you know a good seamstress you can get it done for a good price. If its something you really want done, shop around to get the best price. I know bridal shop alterations cost more than some tailor shops in my area.

My dress is from DB also but I would never have them do my alteration they are over priced.

My dress is coming from a local bridal shop. It is an eden design and I didn't like the neckline at all... ABSOLUTELY LOVE the rest of the dress. The owner of the shop let me know that Eden provides free sketches for what they call a "special cut" where they change details like that before the dress is even made. I had one of these sketches done to turn my neckline into a sweetheart. It is going to cost me $65 on top of the cost of my dress.

If your dress is coming from DB, you'll need to get it altered after the fact, because DB stocks their dresses (in other words, they're already made before you order them).

I wanted a sweetheart as well (and found one), but everyone I talked to said it would be a simple adjustment. I don't know the cost tho. Definitely don't have your alterations done at Davids, listening to the girls on here it's outrageous.

I had mine altered that way. The neckline is more pricey to alter than any other part.. I had the neckline changed, button and hooks added down the back, and a bustle added... cost was $380.

The cost to alter a straight neckline to sweetheart will vary quite a bit depending on the dress - is it plain or does it have shirring, draping or pleating?

I'm in Port Charlotte, FL and still do Bridal Alterations if you are in my area.

I completely altered the back of my dress and that alone was about $350. It was worth it though.
