Guest Book tacky or not?

Lucinda Cefalo Gabriel ( Mrz. Monkey ), on November 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 31

Hi Ladies,

I kinda like how these pages look like ( unique & all ) but i don't know if its going to look tacky or not at the reception. Heres a pic of the guest book pages below. its the formal one.

if u can't read the questions on there it says : how do u know the bride & groom? where did u travel from? How far away? Your special wishes for us

Thanks Ladies,

Lu

I don't think it will look tacky at all! I actually think it is very pretty!

I think it makes it a lot more personal than just signing your name on the line Smiley smile

I don't think it's tacky at all, just be aware that your guests will need more time to sign it. I'd have it at the entrance to the ceremony AND reception. Have the DJ (or other appropriate person) make periodic announcements to sign it.

We're actually putting ours by the bar so guests can't miss it if they want to sign it during the reception. Smiley smile

I love the idea. However if you are having a semi big wedding, you may have a long guest book line. Maybe make it so pages can be detached and spread around a table, so multiple people can sign at once?

I like it! I agree with the others, have it available at the reception so people have more time and are not waiting in line to sign the quest book.

This is what we're considering also. I'm also thinking of sending them to the people who have RSVP'd and asking them to bring them with to the wedding- that way they have lots of time to think about/write in it. The only problem with that is- they might forget it.

I like it! Where did you find these pages at? I've been looking for ideas for our guestbook.

I love it! I also like Ashley's idea of keeping it close to the bar, and having the DJ mention it.

I think it is a great idea! Couples will NEVER look at a book of signatures and say 'awwww'. lol But you will ready those pages over and over, anniversary after anniversary and say 'awwww'. :-)

Someone will think that they are the dreaded and overused T word, but as long as you like them, then who cares.

I like it! Also,it tells your guests they're supposed to write a message. You would be shocked at how many of my guests had no idea its custom to write well wishes in the guestbook, i had pages where people just signed their signature!

I love them, but it depends on your execution, if you have them all in the same book then there will be a line where people are waiting to fill them out. Hopefully you can put them out so that people can take one and move to their table and then assemble them into a book later. Otherwise though, really like the idea.

@ Glenn~ im thinking about discussing this over with my wedding planner & seeing that she says about it. or maybe just have someone or just have them in a box & have them pick one up when they come into the reception hall. & all.
