for those who have used photobooths...

Kristina, on November 24, 2012 at 8:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

So my FH and I are having some trouble picking out favors so I was thinking of maybe doing a photobooth. I was just ciurious how it worked out for anyone else? Did everyone use it? I am concerned because our wedding will be mized of young and old and I don't know if everyone would use it or if it would just be a waste. Also, on average, what was the price for the booth?

I am going with a photobooth in stead of favors and so far I've gotten great feedback from wedding party . I think all ages could enjoy it. I booked my vendor through a groupon $299 for 3 hours unlimited photos Smiley smile I think that's pretty inexpensive compared to prices ive seen . I get a guest book with copies of all photo strips I can't wait to see the outcome Smiley smile

I've been to several wedding receptions that have had the photo booth. Everyone liked it, from young people to old. The more props you have the more fun it will be. However, I will not be having it at my reception for this reason: it took away from everything else. When the first dances were going on, there was a line of people at the photo booth. When people were supposed to be having fun and dancing, they were in line at the photo booth. It's just our opinion, but we want all the focus on us, our bridal party, and on the dance floor!

We just had a booth at our wedding last weekend. It was a huge hit!! It was mostly the younger crowd, but I got all of the photos and some of our older guests participated as well. Our booth was included with our photog, so sorry I can't help on price. I had a blast in it. I took pics with everyone!! The viking hat was a huge hit..everyone loved that prop.

Photo Booths are fun at weddings. I understand what Amanda is saying about the line and also taking away from what is going on (it can happen). There are certain points in the evening that you may want to have your planner 'close' the booth for a few minutes.

*Brides if you get a booth, don't forget to take pictures in it for memories*

I agree with Amanda ... I have seen photobooths open only during the cocktail hour for this reason. Another important question to ask the photobooth company, "Are your props recycled/reused? If so, can we bring in our own props?". It has happened where guests had facial rashes by the end of the reception ... disgusting but true.

Good points, thank you so much for your advice and I would definately ask... I wouldn't want any rashes or anything else... although i am sure that guest would never forget the reception lol

I open mine after dinner so the first dance etc was over. Runs for the last 2-3 hours. Smiley smile

Etsy has tons of fun props on sticks and dollar stores will have funny glasses and such.

We had a photobooth, it didn't start till all the dances and speeches were done, it was a nice option for the people who aren't dancers, it didn't take away from anything at my wedding... just added some more fun to it. Even grandma go in on it Smiley smile Those are pictures we can cherish as she passed away a month after our wedding and now we have these amazing pictures of her in a royal blue sparkly top hot Smiley smile

We had a photobooth and it was awesome! Guests were able to take one of the photo strips home (as a favor) and the other strip was glued into a photo album/scrapbook that people could sign. It was a big hit for guests, young and old.

I think if you are going use a photobooth, why not go out and get those little plastic picture frame and stand, so this way guests could put their pictures in the frame and it's cheap! I went to a wedding where the frame was at everyones place setting, and when you went to take a picture in the photobooth, the picture fit in the frame perfectly! The bride also left a little note on the back of each frame for the guests!

A photobooth was a must for our wedding, my DH would not show if it was not there, jk. At first I thought the same thing you are thinking because we had such a wide range ages attending our wedding however it was a hit. Everyone loved going in and taking crazy and fun pictures. We did do the strips of photos along with a protector as our favors, we figured that people were less likely to just through it away. Now we have a book filled with memories and laughter, which we will look at throughout the years. We paid about 1100.00 for 5 hours and unlimited photo strips, photo disc, protectors, and prop box.

In weddings that I have done, photobooths have been hands down the best money the couples spent. Do your research to make sure you're getting the best quote/deal though as some vendors are price gouging due to popularity.

FH's company is a multi-service operation-they do DJ, photo, video, and Photo Booth (He actually made a joke promo for the company also listing clowns, escorts, catering, Jedi master training, ect.) Often if you go through a company that provides more than one service, you can get a better deal (they give discounts kind of like insurance companies do when you get multiple policies). They usually will run during cocktail hour, stopping about ten minutes before the grand entrance of the couple so that guests can find their seats, then open up again after dinner and dedication dances (first dance, father/daughter, mother/son) that way the guests don't miss the important parts of the night, but still get to leave the messages. The attendant then gives a copy of the strip of photos to the guest and puts the other one in a scrapbook for the couple that the guests can sign. They provide durable props that are cleaned and sanitized between shows but also let couples bring their own.

Honestly when it comes to photobooths, they're a lot of fun, but if you're having a small, intimate wedding (like under 125 people) I would suggest if you get it to make sure it's only available AFTER your first dance and everything else that's important. It does take away from the event itself, and it'll be more noticeable at a smaller wedding. If you have like 175+ people then it isn't noticeable, but the last wedding I went to I noticed a lot of people weren't on the dance floor or around to see the toasts/speeches/etc. Event a DJ we went to reccommended we didn't get it as we're having a smaller wedding around 125 people, as he said he'd rather people on the dance floor. (He'd be the one to sell the photobooth rental to us, too, so he was honestly giving us his own opinion.) Your choice, though!
