Dress budget under $700...where to shop besides DB/consignment?

CoffeeNColor, on September 15, 2016 at 11:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 30

I am trying to keep my dress budget under 700, and the lower the better. Any tips on where to search besides DB or consignment stores?

I have looked at some department stores, but the dresses don't fit my vision of "bridal" or are crazy-expensive.

Not sure if this is a city-specific question, so sorry if it is.

Check out BHLDN. They have a lot of options under $1,000 and a pretty good sale section as well.

    ETA: haha jinx!

Blhdn is having their end of summer sale. Tons of gorgeous dresses are being discounted to 50% or less, which puts a lot of them in your price range.

    I'm going on Saturday.

Tradesy and other 'gently used' wedding sites! Try dresses at a local salon, and if you fall in love with a few, see if you can get them used from another bride for a lower price. Even if they're a size too big and need alterations, they'll often be less expensive than full freight.

Depending on what style you like some bridesmaid dresses come in white and ivory

I bought my dress from cocomelody on Amazon for $170. I would vouch for them as being a good vendor on Amazon.

I tried on dresses in a bridal shop and then found my dress on Tradesy, new with tags for $650, originally $1600. The danger of this is falling in love with a $1600 dress. But there are so many dresses on the online resale stores.

When you go into the store, ask for the 'destination' style dresses. They are a little less extravagant & therefore cheaper. I had a $1000 budget & thats the section they had me look it.

They are still gorgeous dresses ! They are just not so heavy, no super long trains, etc

Some small boutiques have second hand dresses. If you are somewhere around Philadelphia I went to Sabrina Ann once worn and never worn bridal. It has the whole feeling of a cute bridal boutique without the huge price tag.

I second (or third) BHLDN. I believe someone says they have a great return policy as long as it's not final sale. Their dresses are beautiful!

Mine was $500 from a small, local dress store. Call around to local stores and get an idea of their pricing.

Have you thought of a more formal bridesmaid dress? I'm not sure what your idea of "bridal" is, but they can be just as beautiful!

This is from Hayley Paige Occasions. Just a thought!

I just got a $2,300 Casablanca dress from a very nice bridal salon for $600. It was on clearance because the bride purchased a different dress. If you want to go that route, only try on dresses in your size so that you can purchase the sample. Also, if you like one, find out how much they can do before you try it on. This also happens when the dress has been discontinued. Most times they will go even lower because they want to sell the dress. Watch for trunk shows. Even though it is a trunk show for a specific designer, a lot of times ALL of the dresses in the store will be discounted when they have a trunk show.

ETA: I also told the consultant what I wanted and I didn't touch ANY of the dresses for fear that I may have liked one that was way out of my price range.

Look for sample sales. My dress was $750 because it was a sample. It would have been double that otherwise.

I've heard good things about cocomelody.com.
