DOC. What are you doing?

FinallyMrsSloan, on October 7, 2014 at 11:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 39

Will you be hiring a DOC? Will you be using a family member/ friend? I really don't want to pay someone so I'm wondering what everyone else is doing.

No. I think we'll have enough family/friends that will be willing to help!

I am hiring a doc BC my venue doesn't have one and I have all outside vendors coming in and don't think I'll have time to do everything. She didn't cost a ton seeing that I've been in contact with her since January. We'll see if I think she was worth it after

I'm hiring one. We decided that since so much time and energy (and money!) is going into this wedding, we want us and our family to be able to just focus on having fun and enjoying the party rather than trying to coordinate the day.

I hired one and she was amazing. No regrets about spending that money. I didn't want my friends and family to have to work my wedding, be exhausted, and not get to enjoy it. That was a big thing for me.

Husband and his fam thought DOC's were silly and so they took it upon themselves to play that role. I felt bad and guilty the whole time about it, but they wanted to do it!!! They did a good job. I have no real idea how they felt about it in the end. I'm pretty sure I'll find out at thanksgiving (this next weekend for us). lol....

Our caterer essentially was a DOC. I didn't feel like it was all that necessary and if I had one then they would have gotten in the way of our caterer.

Our venue came with a wedding planner and we had the choice to pay her $300 to be our DOC... She was literally worth every single penny. Everything went beyond perfect and she handled all the questions that guest had, made sure the bridal party was at the right spot at the right times, kept myself and jt on track of time so we didn't miss a thing. By the end of the night when everything had calmed down she even asked if it was okay if she had a glass of wine. She did and joined us on the dance floor!

I'm not having one. I have family members willing to help out with the decorations. And everything else is already planned. I trust my bridal party and vendors to keep us on track. I also don't have a bunch of things to keep track of. Pretty much everything is in one place.

Our church has dedicated volunteers for the DOC there and our venue has one to so I'm not wasting the money or time try and find one.

I originally planned on having a close friend handle the reception setup and make sure my vision was accomplished. After meeting with a few DOC for curiosity sake, I decided to hire one. Our reception was in a restaurant, so we did not really have an on-site person to help with coordinating all of the vendors, putting centerpieces together, packing up our items at the end of the night, etc.. And, the DOC (and her assistant) that I hired did all that and so much more including, confirming all vendors, creating my timeline, was near me before the ceremony to make sure that everything was on time (hair, makeup, photos, etc.), kept the timeline going throughout the night (special dances, cake cutting, etc.), and then she packed up all of our items and had them put in our car that we were picking up the next day. She also kept guard of the gifts and made sure those were safe and put in our hotel room at the end of the night.

For me, hiring a DOC was piece of mind and was money very well spent.

Our venue costs included a DOC. If not I probably would have hired an inexpensive one

We hired one. While we are still early in the planning process they have taken a lot of stress off of us already. I love knowing we will have someone to run the whole day and if anything goes wrong, they handle it all. We have a decent amount of vendors, room changes and otherwise so I found it was important. If your wedding is going to run simply in terms of the plan (ceremony/reception in the same place, not having to shuffle guests etc.) you could probs get friends and family do it. However, I think DOC's may be the one thing that is really worth it so far as it will really help us enjoy the day!

We hired one & she was worth every penny. She coordinated/confirmed all of the vendors & delivery/set-up times, helped us with the rehearsal, picked up everything for the reception from my house, decorated the tent (pics to come when I get to a computer), kept some guests separated, got is a discount on the guest shuttle and the best part was that she brought all cards/gifts to our hotel suite so we didn't have to worry about a thing!

Our venue provides one along with a team. They told me it's not necessary to hire someone unless it would make me feel better. The things that I need done are fairly simple and I'll just provide pictures.

I hired a full planner and stylist. It was worth it to me because even with all the guidelines and lists in the world, I wouldn't have thought of all of these things. Plus.....I know what I like as a big picture, finding the details to make that vision come to life is not my thing.

We aren't having one. It just wasn't in our budget. We are fortunate to have a lot of friends and family willing to help, though. =)
