Day of Wedding Planner

Christina, on July 14, 2015 at 11:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Anyone have thoughts on this? Will it make the day go by smoother as far as setting up the place and making sure vendors set up? I was thinking of adding one and some vendors say it costs about 200 for the day of.

I would get one. We weren't going to but my mom and I kept thinking about all the little details that need to be done the day of and we were getting stressed. Ours starts helping out a month in Advanced and stores all of our DIYs. So its not cluttering the house.

Only $200 for a DOC?! That's a good deal, but almost sounds too good of a price to be a good thing. I would strongly recommend a DOC if you're thinking about one. We have an actual wedding coordinator and she will do everything a DOC does and more. She setups and attends all of our appointments, keeps up with our budget and plays with numbers to see where our money will best be spent. They are there to make your wedding day run smoothly and put out fires so you and your family don't have to.

DOC in my opinion is well worth it. I had a friend be my DOC and she made things so much less stressful the day of- if she hadn't been able to be my DOC the day of would have been much more chaotic & stressful than it was. I was so grateful for her help

Yes. I'm paying $1050 for this service, and it's worth every penny. I can call/email her whenever I have a question, we meet 3 weeks before the wedding to go over all the details to make sure everything will flow smoothly, she will contact all vendors a week before, run the rehearsal, set up the decor, solve any problems, direct people, etc. Basically, a life saver.

I'm paying one of my college students who is interested in wedding planning $200. She's a great girl, but I'm not asking her to do a lot-- just set up signs, coordinate vendor set up, etc.. I have a catering manager as well and I'll be around for all of the set up the day before.

Moral of the story: it can be helpful, but expect to pay more than $200. It's fair for my girl, because it's a "learning experience." I'm pretty sure a real DOC would run at least $1,000.

    Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I think that was kind of low too, but a lady around here said her prices start at that. I have a meeting tomorrow, so we will see how that goes!

Totally worth it in my mind. I'm paying 900 but I've got 2 people plus an assistant who will be there. My DOC started taking over last week and it's nice to let someone else deal with ordering chairs and table and figuring out how 140 paper luminaries will get set up Smiley smile. I knew from the start that I couldn't be the one setting things up and I didn't want my family or friends to work that day. I wanted us to all just enjoy the day. I say if you have the money for one, hire one. I will say that $200 sounds really inexpensive and it would make me wonder how good they would be...

Our venue will take care of the setting up, my concern is centerpieces and making sure the venue looks good! I don't mind doing it, but I know I will certainly be stressed out especially with the rehearsal the day before! It will all depend on when I can set up! Yes @kalamityjen it does sound like she may not be that "good" for the price, but I will decide that tomorrow once I sit down for a meeting!

YES! Get one. Best choice ever. 200 is a steal!!! I'm doing week of, so she will be there from Wed-Sun to set up and clean up.

My FH absolutely hates the fact that I want one. I guess he feels as though we can do all the set up and have it ready the night before. I've had some advice where i pick someone (not mother, MIL, or BP) that i trust to help coordinate. Everyone will be paid 2 weeks before, if I provide tips, my MOH or BM can hand those out, and my Band and Florist will be setting up based on the time I tell them. Plus, all the basics will be set up by the venue. So I am not sure I need to pay a "supervisor".
