Changed my mind abou the friggin' bar AGAIN

Monica SC, on May 1, 2015 at 1:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

This has hands down been the hardest decision of the whole friggin' planning process, and I am normally NOT indecisive.

I had decided a couple of months ago to do beer and wine only (well sangria) and we were going to provide it all ourselves...rent the bar and hire a bartender, but after really looking over all the costs today and finding out the delivery charge for the bar is $50 (same as the actual cost to rent the bar), and the rental company guy really wants to drop the bar off the day before at the venue-which I do not want due to space issues...I have decided to just go with the bartending service and pay about $200 more. Yes, I am throwing money at the problem so I don't have to deal with it!

Amen! the closer I get to the wedding date, the more I'm inclined to do the same. I originally had all these DIY plans. Like half of them I ended up paying someone else to handle.

Hey, you solved a headache, and you did it for $200 extra dollars. Think of this way, quick calculations say that you have about 176 days to go before your wedding. If you put a $1.14 away every day from now until your wedding day, you've covered the expense.

Good for you, sometimes you just have to do that. Honestly, isn't that what a DOC is? You could ask a family member or do it yourself, but it's much easier to just throw up the stack of cash and go "You know what, you deal with this kthnxbai".

It will save me trips to the liquor store and the rental place in addition to not having to lug that stuff to the venue. That is definitely worth the extra money, and I love Centerpiece's breakdown of the cost. What is $1.14 a day in the grand scheme of things?

Seems worth it to me, glad you came to the realization now of the travel fee instead of the week of when you go to pay it

When it comes to weddings you can either DIY (which often = big fat headache) or throw money at in. As much as a budget is important, sometimes headache avoidance is better.

We are DIYing some things but always weighed cost vs work. Like log slices. Craft stores want to charge you so much money for log slices! So we cut them ourselves. Cutting and putting together wooden arrow signs? Too much work when they're $7 at Joann's. Good for you! Half the battle with this wedding stuff feels like deciding between the extra savings and the extra stress lol.
