I dislike when people ask me to change my avatar... Makes me not want to change it even more.

It's easier to tell everyone apart if the avatars are not the same. Doesn't have to be a picture of you. There's all kinds of different ones ww has ready to go. We might have two Sally M. On the same thread, but without different avatars it can get very confusing. That's why these posts pop up.

It is the first thing they tell you to do. It's impossible for me to remember people if they don't have a unique avatar. I'm also less inclined to respond to a double ring post because it may not even be a real person.

Yaaaaaaas! It's so much easier to remember who you are if you have a picture. We are a lot more open to answering your questions because we simply don't want to confuse you with a troll and deal with all the stupid shit they bring with them. We are simply trying to be nice and say "hey first rule, please change your avatar so we can get to know you and recognize you".

Or don't change it, whatever. May the odds be ever in your favor.

It's your choice, but ultimately you will be taken much more seriously if you change your avatar. But hey, if you are annoyed and would rather not be a real part of the community we are trying to (re)build, then you keep doing you, boo.

I assume 95% of double ring avatars are trolls. The responses from said avatars in this thread arent doing a whole lot to dispel that notion.

The issue is, the front page of the forum doesn't show your name, only your avatar. So if your avatar is the two rings, people can't see who asked that question.

Even leaving aside obvious spammers and trolls, there are a fair number of people who swoop in, ask a question that they could perfectly well have Googled, and disappear again (often without even reading the answers they get). People's attitude is typically, if you're not going to help others, why should we help you? And no one can see that you're a regular poster who does help others if you use the ring avatars.

Honestly, the constant nagging about an avatar is more like spam than people popping in to ask a question or two who haven't changed their picture. If they don't get taken seriously, oh well. This is a wedding forum for people who have regular people weddings - not a single topic is that important in the big scheme of things. If stock avatar users cared, there's only about a zillion threads and comments about it to inform them. Seriously, get over it.

Bumping this to annoy the people who are annoyed when we ask them to change their pictures because the double ringed avatars annoy us.
