BR: Discussion about TTC with the FH tonight :)

Amanda, on January 20, 2013 at 10:09 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 21

I think I just had my "this is really happening" moment. Tonight while browsing honeymoon options, FH and I were saying how important it is to us to take our honeymoon right after the wedding. Offhandedly and to see what he said, I joked that if we waited a few months after the wedding, I might be pregnant and that wouldn't be as fun. And FH agreed and got totally excited! We already own our home and are off to a good start with our careers, and we'll both be 26 by that time. We've always said kids were important to us, but it just felt so real to talk about it in a definite, this-is-when-we'll-start-trying way. Anyone else already had the kids discussion? How soon after the wedding did you start trying?

We've discussed kids. We would like to be more financially stable and secure in our careers. I'll be 26 in March, but I will have only been working for 2 years (SO MUCH SCHOOL!). We definitely want some time just to enjoy each other and enjoy being married. We'll probably be thinking more about it when I'm around 29 or so.

We also are not 100% convinced we want kids, yet, although I think both of us have been leaning towards having them for a number of months now. Obviously, that isn't the kind of situation to bring a kid into! We will both be 100% before we would have one.

We started trying a month after getting married. It took 2 years because of a battle with infertility, but we are now expecting a baby in July! Smiley smile I'm so glad we started trying right away, because we were SO ready to have a little one. If we had waited a year like everyone suggested, I would be waiting to see a specialist now (I waited 6 months to see one, after the 12 months it took to get the referral) and then I'd have to go through a slew of blood and fertility tests (that took about 3 months because of some inconclusive results), and finally wait for a diagnosis and treatment (which took another 3 months), all that before getting a real shot at the . Instead of doing all of that right now, I am just waiting patiently to feel the first flutters from our little one.

Basically, my advice is to start trying when YOU guys feel ready, not when everyone else thinks you should start trying. Smiley smile

FH and I have discussed this many of times. We decided that right after the wedding we would start immediately. We have been together 7 years already, so we have had our time. I have some fertility issues, so come 6 months prior the wedding we are getting on necessary medication. I understand what you mean, it's so surreal! Never before would he even consider a baby in the mix. Now he wants one just as much as I do!

We've both had baby fever for a while now. We have children, but just not with each other. I have 3 and he has one. We were thinking of ttc immediately after the wedding as I'm getting up in age fertility wise. I'll be 35 by wedding day. We aren't preventing right now as I'm allergic to birth control and latex so we figure if it happens great, if not, that's okay too, but we know we will get really serious about it next year around April or May.

We've talked about it and as long as our housing is in order and our finances are in good shape, we'll start ttc soon after the wedding. We'll be 25 and 26 by then, my sister's baby will be a little over a year old by then, and hopefully it'll be perfect timing Smiley smile

    Congratulations Mrs.M, great news!!

So, my hubby and I found out we were pregnant a couple weeks about starting to talk about getting married... so we did baby first, wedding second. Now we are officially married, and our son is turning two in March. We go back and forth about when and if we want to try again, a lot of our friends are pregnant with their second child now.... but until we are sure I have I vice grip on my birth control, lol. Good Luck to all those trying!!

I would have like to start trying this spring/summer, but DH is in school until Spring 2014. So we are waiting until he finishes school and then getting on the 'baby train'. By then I'll be 33 1/2 and he'll be almost 32.

FH is 42 and I'm 35 with a 5 and 4 year old already. He'd like one of his own which I can understand, but OMG going back to the baby stage freaks me out. Five and four are great ages. The newborn and infant stages are HARD and then there's 3 year olds. Just shoot me now. LOL

We'll have one, but nopefully not a for at least 3 years.

We originally were gonna wait a few years, but we had a talk about it a month or two ago and decided to start trying on our wedding night! It is such an unreal feeling because I have health issues so to have to talk to all my doctors about pregnancy just makes it more real! I am SO excited and ready and so is he. Hes 10 years older so hes got the baby fever too!

We have it a lot. We were orginally saying okay we'll wait 2 years to TTC and then we pushed it down to a year... and now we're like eh maybe 6 months. It just keeps moving up. LoL Finances are really going to come into play. Also one of our good friends is due in August and my sister is due in may so I have a feeling i'm gonna see the kids and look at him and be like "I WANT ONE!" lol -especially considering i'm already doing that. haha!

We've had this discussion quite a bit! I'm really hoping to start trying during the honeymoon. I'm not on BC so we only use condoms, so we would just have to stop using them and get to business Smiley winking. I already know but the end of this year, I will atleast be pregnant!! I am so excited, I've had baby fever like crazy b/c all my girlsfriend have babies and I only have nieces/nephews. I can't wait!!!!

@Amy S - I'm 28 too, and FH is 12 years older than me! Crazy Smiley smile

We are going to start trying on the HM. We get married in March, and our HM is in April. I don't want to be on an 18 hour flight preggers! So HM we will start trying & praying.

Praying for all you ladies that are trying!!

We both decided to wait awhile, while FH is 29, I'm 25 and would like to get my career off the ground 1st. not saying that if it would happen it would be the end of the world but we would like to wait a little.

Aww yay, I'm glad I'm not the only one starting on the honeymoon! The way I see it, by the time of our wedding, we will have known each other since elementary school, have been dating for 4 years, and living together for 2 years. Why wait any longer?! I can see waiting if the couple hasn't lived together yet, but we're enjoying our "just us" time now Smiley smile
