Bouquet/Garter Toss - Are you doing this?

As a guest at previous weddings, I always felt so corny getting up on the dance floor during the bouquet toss. As a guest at previous weddings, I always felt so corny getting up on the dance floor during the bouquet toss. I would only get up to participate because of all of the nagging from married folks and family members. How did you feel about the toss as a guest at other weddings? Are you going to carry this tradition at your wedding? Do you think guests will be bummed out if its not done?

And for the garter toss - I don't want to do this either but the FH wants to. I just don't know how I feel about him going under my dress to pull it off in front of my family... seems too risque or something. How do you all feel about this? Will you do the garter toss at your wedding?

We're both 40, but almost everyone at our wedding is older and married, so we're not doing either. Now that I think of it, my mom will be the only single female there!!

I went back and forth on if I should do the tosses or not since I don't have many single people at my wedding but I decided to. My aunt had already made my toss bouquet (she is an absolute genius at flowers btw!) so I decided to just do both.

The garter toss really wasn't that bad. I had the garter pretty low to start with (I didn't want him getting to second base removing it lol) so he didn't really have to get under the dress. He just pushed the hem up to my knee and pulled it down. It wasn't embarrassing and my cousin's 4 year old son (like I said not many singles so I let kids do it too) caught it and wore it on his arm that night. He was adorable.

I want to do it but I don't want to do it the traditional way as I'm not a traditional couple. I want all my guests to participate in it for fun regardless if they are married or not. I was told I couldn't but it's my wedding and I want to have fun and not single the single people out. Is this crazy or what?

We didn't do it. And when it happened at my son's wedding, people were pretty much trying to avoid catching either the bouquet or the garter. I really didn't like the idea of assuming that every single person there is just dying to get married.

We both wore garters. However, I sold mine after the wedding, and NotFroofy kept hers as a souvenir. One of the bouquets was given to the one guest local to the area, and the other was given to the staff of the synagogue where we got married.

I am doing a bouquet toss along with my FH's garter toss. I have a breakaway bouquet with fortunes on it, so anyone could catch them- even kids, because I have a lot of children coming to the reception! Smiley smile

We are doing this, but with a little twist. In the hispanic tradition all the ladies make a line and do this crazy "run" like a snake through the hall and then end up ready to catch the bouquet, but it is ALL ladies not just the single ones... and then the men do the same thing. It is supposed to be all ladies/men except the bride/groom... Here is a little clip from YouTube to kind of show you better than my words explain... its lots of fun Smiley smile

    * This one shows the men/women together and only at the end when a lot of stopped AND YES they do throw the groom like that... traditions!
